Please post some tried rice cooker recipes.

Currently stuck at a shithole apartment with no other cooking appliances.

I know I can Google but I trust you guys more.

1 cup of rice
2 cups of water
Turn it on

If it's too wet for your liking use 1.5 cups of water instead next time. All rice is different.

I need some protein m8

Microwave a chicken breast on high for 5 minutes

Do you have a steamer basket?

Its not the apartments fault that you can't afford a pan bud

add beans to rice
there you go

Can I really use that thing to make beans? How?

Based on my knowledge of how a rice cooker works, I'm going to say no. Rice cookers boil water until they detect a temperature drop from the lack of steam.

The water would boil out before the beans are cooked.

I've made lentils in one, use low sodium beef stock, pepper, some aromatics if you have. just add water as necessary. Actually turned out pretty good my wife said she enjoyed them and was surprised at the meal cost.

Can anyone recommend a decent rice cooker? All the ones available in my town have awful reviews, and there are so many online that I wouldn't know what to pick.

Yes

Zojirushi

Apparently you can make mashed potatoes in one. Anybody else tried thisi ? I haven't had time to try myself but I was wondering if anybody had a suggestion.

Oatmeal works (steel cut oats) but I think you need a big rice cooker. In my 8 cup one, it always boils over if I use more than a cup of dry and I end up with a goopy mess.

If you're poor then the line above in OP is good. Otherwise look at the chink brands if you think you'd use it enough. They are really nice and have more functionality.

Is that Japanese designed and made?

I have a Zojirushi and use it everyday. It's simple to clean and makes perfect rice. It really helped me clean up my diet.

My diet is mostly grilled chicken or white fish garnished with parsley and lemon slices, steamed and raw vegetables, brown rice, and tzatziki sauce.

A four quart pot and a universal steamer basket is a great combo. Pair that up with a rice cooker and a cast iron skillet. Optional: electric, gas, or charcoal grill.

Do you flavour the chicken or fish with any other spices, and do you 'grill' it in the cast iron on the stove or in the oven?

Mashed potatoes are much better done in a crock pot. Easy as shit, tastes amazing, will hold temp and texture for hours

What did your wife's son think?

Not that I disagree, but personally my crock pot isn't something I keep on my counter regularly like a rice cooker, know what I mean? I can chop up some potatoes and have them steamed up and mashed a lot quicker I imagine. I'll try it in a bit and report back.

Well i mean, i put both my crock pot and rice cooker away when I'm done with them....As i have limited counter space. 8 quarts of mash just by doing basic cuts on potatoes is pretty awesome though

Get a pressure cooker instead, it's a slow cooker, rice cooker, saute and so on instead.

Yeah the insta pot is based

Space saving bargain.

you could not cook beans in it
but you could do what i do because i am lazy and buy canned beans. the "cleanest" protein you could eat. your bowels will thank you

Salt, pepper, cayenne, chopped garlic, fresh lemon slices, parsley, and olive oil. For the chicken, I grill it with salt and pepper and rub the outside of it with a clove of crushed garlic to impart the flavor. Then I dust it with cayenne, and serve with fresh lemon slices and parsley. The fish I wrap in an aluminum pouch (you can also use parchment paper) with all the listed ingredients except parsley -- that goes on fresh. Sometimes I replace the olive oil with butter.

I typically grill it on a real charcoal grill. Otherwise I pan sear it. I always wrap the chicken with plastic wrap and pound it flat first. You get quicker, more even cooking that way.

Reporting back - they came out pretty good after just being steamed twenty minutes. A bit longer would probably help, and a little more butter, but otherwise that's a pretty quick and filling meal of potatoes. 10/10 can recommend

You've sold me.

We don't have any kids, nor does she, but if she did she'd say go back to /pol/

>I know I can Google but I trust you guys more.
you are fucking retarded. Like even if you were just trying to flatter us. you are pants on head fucking stupid. we actively want to hurt you the only thing that stops us is the fact that we want to feel smart and superior so we flaunt our knowledge. but don't fucking trust us. we will tell you not to and to throw ice in boiling vats of oil.
coming here for any legit knowledge is fucking stupid and sad.

also make pancakes

2 cups rice
4 cups chicken broth
1 lb chicken
1 lb Kielbasa
1/2 lb Shrimp
1 bell pepper
1 tomato
1/2 onion
2 tsp butter
salt, pepper, cayenne, whatever else you want

I've only made this once and the chicken was pretty tough, so you may want to try subbing in more kielbasa for the chicken.

You sound boring as shit.

wash and fry the rice until lightly browned then put them in the cooker (oil included)
add tomato juice from a can or get tomatoes and blend em
try to get 2:1 ratio with liquid being 2
if you dont have enough tomato juice just add water
2-3 cloves of garlic
1/2 onion
whatever chili based spices you like

cook pinto/red beans or whatever legume you like on the side

Slice chicken breast into strips or cubes, whatever
marinade with whatever
or not
Toss in rice like usual, throw chicken on top of it
pour in some of the marinade too.
cook normally and its all done
Its not pretty, but it's easy to make and clean up and will keep you from starving
BTW I have a primitive rice cooker that has a simple flapper switch that springs from "boil" to "warm" when it gets to a certain point, no other controls. Works fine for ghetto meals like I described above

You could probably use it as a slow cooker with a quarter chunk of a small roast.

You ever heard the phrase "trust, but verify?"

Kek. I guess the chins have gone full panic mode because I'm at work (no adblock) and Veeky Forums has porn ads now. Later, blue board.

I use ublock origin on my pc and clover on my phone. Are the ads really as bad as everyone's saying it is? If so, Hiroshima is gonna be hated by almost everyone here. He's fucking up bad. Veeky Forums might really die soon.
