>text parents that I would like it as a christmas gift
>parents use my prime account and I get an alert the order has been placed

Well I guess I'm getting one for christmas. Anyone have experience with one? I hear it is basically the best knife for the money. Obviously you could spend over $100 for something better but for under $30 I hope it turns out well.

I have the exact knife you are getting and this Ikea knife beats it out every time.

Victorinox is a meme. So is J.A. Henckels.

>Victorinox is a meme
Does that mean it's bad or a waste of money?

I don't believe you

We use these at the place I work. They're good enough. As long as you keep it sharp I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

It's overrated and not worth a second look.

Victorinox is famous for Swiss Army knives. People automatically assume anything "blade" related must be good coming out of this company, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Swiss Army knives are famous for its design concept, not the quality of the blades.

>What is misinformation

Maybe but that doesn't constitute a meme, does it?

You don't have to. Ikea knives are something that's easy to make fun of, but actually quite popular among chefs and cooks who can see past the top brand memes. Google is your friend.

The only expensive knife I've been impressed with is a Global knife.

Have you ever owned a Swiss army knife? I don't mean the Chinese knockoffs either. The real thing with a life time guarantee on it. They are literal butter knives.

It's a meme in a sense it's highly revered in an echo chamber. That's the thing about memes, it has a virus-like property that's capable of spreading just like the idea anything from a "swiss brand" must be a "quality product".

the knife is the number one recommended knife on /r/food and /r/cooking, so go figure.

is it a good knife?

i'm sure it is.

is it better than more expensive knives?

no. that smells like reddit faggotry.

why did you text them instead of just opening your bedroom door and telling them yourself?

I thought Wenger made Swiss Army knives?

we use these at work (fish monger)
they can't cut for shit and go dull if you look at it wrong

>using a chef's knife to prepare fish
You're not a fish monger, just a mong.

Wenger is Victorinox now. At one point they were competitors.

My boss uses one as his beater and he's a big fan. I'm a vain ass hole, so I only use knives that look cool. I say it's shit, but my boss has much more experience than me, so it's probably alright.

You're right. Let me rephrase
We use victorinox knives at work
they can't cut for shit and go dull if you look at them wrong

are you too stupid to hone/sharpen them?

I can hone/sharpen them just fine
the problem is they need to be hone/sharpened so fucking often

yup that's the thing about cheap knives

I got a 10" mercer for 8 bucks on amazon. Can't beat that

it's bretty good man. I bought one and it was like half the price of my wustoff and works great. I never even thought of buying a ikea knife because I have never bought anything good for the kitchen there. Everything is usually shit.

If you're looking for out of the box sharpness though, I'd recommend Tojiro DP

now that cooking with dog is dead, will 猫と一緒に炊き be the new hot thing

>that knife spin at 0:20
