What does Veeky Forums think of pic related? I probably hadn't had one of these for almost twenty years. I actually didn't know they were still a thing until I stumbled upon them whilst perusing a couple of days ago. What's more is that there was a dark chocolate variety that, as a kid, I would have never even considered. Needless to say, I was simply elated and allowed myself this sugary treat and fell into a nostalgic state of euphoria.
I fucking hate those things. The only good part about them is smashing them on the table so it busts into segments.
Alexander Ward
Good point. Entertainment with your dessert is definitely a bonus.
Ryder Morgan
How bout I smash YOU on the table and busts YOU into segments?
Joshua Butler
I love them. Always eat one around Christmas.
Justin Reyes
I buy a few every year, they're great. They don't seem to be popular though, which sucks, because there's lots of varieties I'd love to try, especially the raspberry one that supposedly exists but I can't even find a bloody picture on Google.
Gotta disagree about the whole "whack and unwrap" bullshit though. I think it's a retarded novelty and just makes a mess. And it bugs me that none of the orange slices are ever as perfectly shaped as they could be.
Aiden Ward
>perusing shopping. You were shopping.
Leo Sanchez
I loved the mint ones as a kid but haven't seen them in years. Did they stop making mint flavour?
Angel Harris
i also haven't tried one for around 15 years.
they were fucking great and i miss the dawn french ads
Gabriel Stewart
>Terry's Chocolate Orange Mint (Discontinued 2012) Just looked it up ;_;
Wyatt Jones
Now that I know they all exist, I'll probably be making a more frequent tradition of it.
I'd never heard of a raspberry one before. Sounds delicious, will be scoping. And I have to say that the one I just recently finished was pretty much shaped as well as I could have expected. What do you think would make them more aesthetically pleasing?
This is true as well.
That's devastating to me and I didn't even know they existed.
You need to find yourself one. They're still quite a treat
Christopher Parker
So is it just chocolate or is there something inside?
Logan Davis
Also, just looked up one of the ads. Worth a chuckle.
Brayden Green
It's solid, orange flavored chocolate, friend.
Brayden Lewis
When I was a child, my grandparents had this dog that would eat literally anything. One Christmas, they got me a box of these and the dog found them and ate them all. Aluminum wrappers included. I remember him shitting out huge chunks of aluminum all over the house. I was super excited because I thought he was shitting out gold and we had a source of infinite income.
Anyway, they're pretty fucking good. I eat them every year around Christmas.
Juan Bennett
>I remember him shitting out huge chunks of aluminum all over the house. I was super excited because I thought he was shitting out gold and we had a source of infinite income. Hahahaha fucking kek
Adrian Diaz
We used to have this every christmas, much better in my opinion
Austin Mitchell
When I was a kid we always had a basket of Bloomer's Chocolates as they were made locally so cheap. During the '00s varieties began disappearing and ultimately the company vanished completely around 2012. Although peanut butter logs were my favorite and they as well as most other varieties are easily replaced by competing products my second favorite was honeycomb chips which must be especially difficult to produce. Only Esther Price seems to have them locally and only 1 per box and they're shit. I haven't had a proper 50% air honeycomb chip in over 5 years now
John Young
Holy fuck you just gave me a reason to go to England ASAP That sounds fucking amazing
Angel Collins
I've seen several US copycats.
Joshua Fisher
I agree with this user Is that candied orange peels dipped in chocolate? I always see these at fancy chocolate shops and the like, but never saw the a-peel (bu-dum tss). But I guess the fact that it's a comparable product makes it it must try now.
I'm not sure I've ever tried anything that's actually honeycomb, but I'd like to. They're naturally soft, but processed to be crunchy, right?
OP here. I'm in the US, and my original picture of Terry's Dark Chocolate Orange is exactly what I got from my local grocer a few days ago. The milk chocolate variety was next to it on the shelf. Have at it, bud! No need for knockoffs like mentioned; though, I'm sure they're just as good.
Leo Murphy
Yes they're candied orange in dark chocolate. They exist in milk or black chocolate. I really like them, they're not too sweet so I'll just have a few instead of being tempted to have the whole thing. Also they work really well when you dip them in coffee
Ian Baker
I fucking love orange-flavored chocolate, but I don't really eat sweets. My family usually gets me one around christmas though.
James Garcia
b..but I'm not American guys, I'm a danefag, we don't even have the fake kind ;_;
Connor Sanchez
I'll be sure to stop by the local chocolatier one of these weekends. Thanks for the coffee tip. Do you contrast flavors when doing that? (I.e. bitter coffee/milk chocolate, or bitter choclate, sweetened coffee) or do you match the flavor profiles?
I don't eat 'em much either. But when I saw this and remembered my childhood, I had to grab the little treasure and damn was it ever as good as I could've remembered.
That's truly unfortunate. Though, shipping is a great thing.
Jordan Campbell
>They're naturally soft, but processed to be crunchy, right? Actual honeycomb is made of beeswax but honeycomb chips are made of molasses kind of like a toffee and a machine shapes them like that. The texture makes them melt in your mouth instead of getting stuck in your teeth.
Jayden Wood
I usually drink big mugs of french pressed coffee with a spoonful of sugar and it works best with dark chocolate ones. The milk chocolate kind are just too sweet for me anyways
Carson Parker
I thought they were originally norwegian
Ian Richardson
That's because you are a narcissist and a retard
Jack Murphy
I'm swedish and my family would go to Norway a weekend in december for a couple of years because of my dads work and that's the only time I've had them. They seemed to be quite traditional.
Elijah Hughes
When I was little, that is.
Ethan Cox
Well, your pic certainly makes them look delicious. I'll have to see if I ever come across anything comparable.
I'm excited to try it out. I love, both, dark chocolate and dark coffee. If my love for citrus can find its way into the mix, I won't be mad about it.
So, are you a fan of them?
Joshua Clark
can confirm rasberry in canada liked the original the best tho
Alexander Cook
could have been a limited thing tho now that i think about it havent had one in a few years
Austin Ward
It's filled with a bunch of balls. Fact.
Austin Powell
I was disappointed to find it wasn't a solid sphere when I bought one for the first time
Noah Thompson
New ones come pre-segmented.
Cooper Rodriguez
It used to be. I hated how hard a time i had with them when i was a kid
Nathan Brooks
So, is it supposed to be like a raspberry shaped one, then? Or is it still orange shaped? It sounds delicious, either way.
>Implying this thread is about your mouth.
That sound pretty horrible. The slices they currently do are perfect to get the best combination of texted and flavor.
And it's awesome.
Hudson Reyes
It's not Terry's, it's mine.
Daniel Garcia
Dried fruits in dark chocolate are objectively the best candy in existence, fight me
Jackson Ross
Yeah the thing was you were supposed to slam it against a wall or something to get it to fall apart like in advertisements.
Kayden Martinez
Literally scrolled by this with a slice of chocolate orange in hand, anyways the Terry's ones are?? Gone, I had a hard time finding copycats for a couple years (my entire family loves them, it was A Big Deal as far as seasonal candy goes I guess) but saw one last week that is closer to the old ones than the Trader Joes ones are IMO.
I'll probably die if I have more than two slices in a sitting, I have no idea how I inhaled them as a kid (and didn't end up diabetic or some shit)
David Young
>Terry's
It's not Terry's - it's mine
Josiah Green
You can actually consume a fairly decent amount of sugar without ill effects, the problem (in America) is that sugar was put in literally everything to replace fat which, at the time, was thought to be bad for you. As long as you make sure added sugar isn't in your daily meal items, you'll be fine. Well, as long as your semi-reasonable about it, nothing's gonna help you if down a pound of milk chocolate every day.
Aaron Bailey
Bringing it back I see. Keep fighting the good fight.
I can't say that I disagree! I'd fight at your side.
But they still weren't solid, right? Like "whacking" them was just supposed to separate the segments, yeah?
The Terry's ones are still alive and well. Hence the reason I made this thread. I was very shocked, myself.
I try to keep me sugar intake to a "fairly appropriate" level rather than "fairly decent". Mainly because of exactly what you said about it being in everything, now. It's so hard to avoid that I've gone ahead and made it a challenge accepted. But that's just me
Ryan Gutierrez
Fuck you guys, you made me buy this shit after 10 years not having it. Tastes much better than I remember as a teen.
Jayden Campbell
i feel the exact same way. i remember enjoying one when i was a kid. i really liked it. never had another one.
Leo Reed
Bloomer's or Blommer's? I used to live near a Blommer's chocolate factory.
Robert Reyes
>five how fat are you, user
Isaac Hughes
One for the wife, one for my son, one for my daughter, one for me now and one for me later
They're cut in pieces so you can share user. You're not supposed to eat a whole on your own. This is why you are fatty.
>not playing with your kids >not showing them the magic trick where you break the chocolate orange and share >not showing them how to share and savor flavor
Josiah Clark
You can get Terry's at Winco dude. I've had them before.
James Thomas
Same. Haven't had one in years. Had forgotten they even existed until this thread.
Julian Rogers
Terrys doesnt have a raspberry one there is an knock off that makes it and it isn't even chocolate and uses fake vanilla
Gavin White
They're not Terrys, they're mine.
Justin Baker
If you are after a honeycomb dipped in chocolate then try a Crunchie.
Dylan Torres
chocolate and orange is not a good food combination
Christian Edwards
Yes it is.
Anthony Gray
What planet do you live on
Brayden Anderson
That's definitely a good haul. My favorite part is how you couldn't wait to take the picture before cracking one open. Top kek. I hope your family enjoys them as well.
Do yourselves a flavor favor and find one this weekend.
Glad to get some details on this. Doesn't sound like your a fan of the raspberry knockoff, then? I'm still curious about the shape.
t. Someone who hasn't tried chocolate and orange combined.
Not that user, but will still take the recommendation.
Mid-level kek. Mainly the way he said/emphasized that last line.
