Second this. Venison liver has an almost sweet flavor without the metallic chalkiness of other animals' liver. It may be because I always eat it the day of the kill and it's extremely fresh.

Totally agree. Other liver dishes need tons of spices and other ingredients to cover up the blood taste but I'd happily eat venison liver just pan fried in some butter.

I made a thai green curry with chicken livers once.
I think I fucked it up because the livers tasted horrible.
I just chucked em into the curry and let them cook like that.

I really like liver but I try to eat only organic liver to avoid all the antibiotics and related stuff

I like it best when the liver is roasted in a pan with onions and some potatoes.

I wish I liked it. I used to love it as a kid that's way may grandfather cooked it. These days if I force down more than two bites gag reflex kicks in.

I was brought up on liver and onions, they even served it weekly for school dinners (England) although it was often overcooked and had the texture of 'old boots'.

Some people soak their liver overnight in a little milk to remove the 'ammonia taste' ?? but I never bothered, a quick dip into seasoned flour and into the pan.

One tip though, don't sweat the onions - cook them hot and fast to retain the acidity . . .it works better.

Still my parents would just make it for me regardless, even if I complained every time.

A dinner lady stood but the place were you put your empty plate and cutlery and if you had too much waste . . .she would send you back to your table to eat it.

oh boy, steer clear of china. also, organs not being commonly eaten in the west is a relatively new thing. my grandparents used to eat beef everything - from heart to balls.

someone please post liver recipes other than seared in a pan with buttloads of onions. it's delicious but it can't be the only way

It's very high in saturated fat but I do enjoy most organ meat except brains. My mom and grandma ate that shit. No thanks.

Same, my grandmothers treat as a little girl was to go rabbit hunting with her uncle. She'd take the rabbits home on the train wrapped in newspaper and her mother would cook the brain for her as a treat.

Seems like a shitload of trouble to get half a spoon of something, and I eat the organ meat from everything I kill, but I'll be damned if I'm going to try to split the skull for a teaspoonful of brains.

I'm actually quite annoyed at the lack of most organs availability at supermarkets. It's a waste of meat and would lower the cost of everything. Plus its tasty.
