Is it harder to cut off cigarettes or soda?

is it harder to cut off cigarettes or soda?

Cigarettes obviously
/thread

Soda is disgusting. You'll naturally grow out of that shit by the time you're 20.

>tfw drink soda everyday but only smoke when I drink on weekends

probably soda, cigarettes are only hard for the first 3 days

t. someone who has quit both cold turkey

thats what butthurt haters actually believe

definitely soda

>tfw both smoked and drank soda every day, and easily quit "cold turkey" with no desire to have either one

I dropped soda pretty easy, still smoke like a chimney though.

I went to ginger ale for a couple days and then bam...I was good.

I'm a sucker for a good can of coke and really will never fully quit that carbonated poison because of it.

I am at 10m17d cold turkey from 2 pack-a-day cigarette addiction. Quitting this was really not difficult after about 24 hours.

Chemically/physically the cigarettes, but our society will let you quit cigarettes WAY fucking easier than soda. Soda is everywhere. It's served with every meal, sold at every store, and it's just so fucking easy and inconsequential to buy one and drink it.

>soda is served with every meal

Literally nobody has ever served me a soda without me ordering or asking for one (which has probably been over a decade), but put a few drinks in me and have someone light up a cigarette near me and it's fucking close to impossible for me to resist having one myself.

Every single restaurant that serves soda with their meals will allow you to substitute the soda for water.

Literally every one.

The only case against it is that for greasy foods like pizza you really want the soda.

Also, booze is harder to quit than both of them.

Sugar is super addictive and took me years to kick the excessive usage of it, but I still smoke after all these years. I'm gonna say ciggies, but sugar is its own demon.

Cut out soda for a week or two and you'll come to realize that it's bitter and overly gassy. It's liquid candy my man.

>Being this big of faggots over semantics

There is a billion dollar industry to help people quit smoking, where as there isn't the same for people quitting sodas. I used to drink a soda a day in high school, but when I got to college I dropped the habit and now I only have maybe one a week.

>Being this upset that people put you in your place

Stop saying stupid things and it won't happen, faggot.

>billion dollar industry to help people quit smoking

It's the exact same industry that got people smoking in the first place...

lol what a shit response
smoking for a year and quitting smoking is not that easy

Unironically don't know how people can drink syrupy fizzy devils tonic.

The only ones I can tolerate is Dr. Pepper and Lilt, and even then I have to shake the bottle to release all the gas first

Same with all the "diet sodas" and """weightloss products"""

Soda by far. And I smoke a pack a day. But I won't ever quit Coca Cola .

From my experience, I'd say cigarettes. I went from drinking multiple sodas every day to almost never drinking soda, by simply leaving the public school system and no longer having a vending machine in arms reach for most of my day. If I don't have cigarettes, I will fucking die.

I think it has a lot to do with motivation. A lot of people don't have social pressures to quit soda. The only reason I quit it is because of Veeky Forums and Veeky Forums memeing, otherwise I'd still be drinking it everyday.

I don't think you can argue that caffeine is more addictive than nicotine, but it is more socially acceptable and therefore you are less likely to want to quit in the first place.

My uncle is hooked on both, and lemme tell ya, it ain't the cigs that're making his knees quake.

A lot of people I know who are trying to kick their soda habit can't do it, and say it's difficult. I dropped the stuff 9 years ago by just...stopping. I didn't find it really hard to just put it down and not pick it up again - it's been so long now, I can't even tolerate the carbonation anymore. Of course, I started drinking coffee like a madcunt around that time, so probably helped...

just cheated with lucky strike but have been on ketones for 3months and sugar is definitely on the afterburner (tho i enjoy a bite of sees like once a week) you can feel the sugar hit the dome like a young kid about to get hyper on it, fukin drug it is

Soda is fine, you'll get bored of it eventually. That's what i did. Haven't drink one for months now

>they think I'll stop drinking soda but I can't hehehehe haters

I used to smoke and drink a lot of soda, and for my experience dropping soda was MUCH harder. Smoking was pretty easy, only sometimes I get a massive craving when I smell cigarette smoke. Overall though soda was much harder

He's not saying soda is unavoidable. He's saying that it's more prevalent in society thus making it more difficult to fully cut out of your life.

On top of that Soda doesn't carry the stigma that cigarettes do. You order a soda nobody really says anything. You light up a cigarette or mention that you smoke and someone is liable to give you their fucking 2 cents on how smoking is bad for you.

>dropped the habit
>now I only have maybe one a week

You've cut back, you haven't dropped the habit retard.

>2016
someone still drinks soda except as a cocktail ingredient???

Cigarettes by far.
I don't understand how anyone gets addicted to POP.
I only have the diet kind when I have rum.
The sweet kind is just too sweet, makes my teeth feel rotted, leaves a disgusting aftertaste, and doesn't quench thirst AT ALL.

I really don't get it.

>Only been drinking water for the past 6 or so years
>Occasionally have a bit of pop to mix it up
>Can never finish it because it is too sweet
Seriously, it's like dessert. I don't know how I used to drink more than one can of the stuff.

>smoking for a year and quitting smoking is not that easy

Not him, but at the point I quit cold turkey I was smoking 20 a day and had been smoking for nearly 10 years.

The other poster is right; the first three days are so are absolute shit, but after that it's pretty easy. You just have to have some willpower and break the habits associated with smoking.

>Chemically/physically the cigarettes, but our society will let you quit cigarettes WAY fucking easier than soda.

Wrong
>Soda is everywhere. It's served with every meal,
Wrong
>sold at every store
So is literally everything
>and it's just so fucking easy and inconsequential to buy one and drink it.
>wrong

>2016
someone still drinks cocktails?

You're an idiot and your formatting is atrocious.

I've given up:

>cigarettes (2 packs/day)
>soda (64+ oz./day)
>caffeine (unknown)
>marijuana (ounce/month)
>alcohol (1.5 gallons/3 days)

With cigarettes, I was sick for a week with diarrhea and coughing. I couldn't smoke. Since I was past the withdrawal phase, I took the opportunity to quit. I was lucky on that one.

Caffeine was recommended by my cardiologist. Soda by my physician. Those were easy. You can start with caffeine-free, diet sodas at first. Then drink carbonated water. Then just drink water. Easy.

Marijuana gave me panic attacks. That was easy to give up. Plus it made me feel like a total fag.

Alcohol was the hardest. I was afraid of seizures, but I was under medical supervision. When I got past the withdrawals and went home, I was eating 6000+ calories a day to replace the cravings. It worked!

I went to therapy, started college, got a degree, lost a lot of weight, found my dream job, and bought a house.

Both are piss easy. Probably easier cut smokes if you dont drink or socialise. Meth addictiveness is just a meme in case you ever wondered.

Might take up heroun to see if thats just a meme as well

Inspirationbro, my nigga. Hardest for me is caffeine. Fucking love coffee. The other shit is easy enough to avoid.

Note, didnt mean to imply its easy for everyone, i dont have nearly the level of addiction you did.

Ciggies. I havent drank a soda in 10+ years but had a really hard time quitting cigarettes

for me its gotta be soda. sugar is powerful shit, man.

>only hard for the first three days
>I've only smoked for three days prior
Last time I tried to quit I lasted two and a half weeks and the urge to kill everything in sight only increased up till I caved

There are many sweet alternatives to soda which can help you get away from it for the most part. I don't know if you can say the same for cigs

Pop was for me. I smoked for ~5 years, and just... stopped. I sometimes get the urge to, but just a "I enjoy smoking Turkish Royals, and one would be good right now." If I do buy a pack, I almost never finish it before it's old AF and I toss it. Since I've "quit" about 6 years ago, I've maybe bought 8 packs.

Holy fuck quitting pop was hard, and I still really haven't managed it for very long. The most I've been able to do was hard quit for 5 months. Now I just at least get Coke Zero instead of Coke.

A CIGGARETTES! Its made out of papper or sumting tsk tsk

both are easy if you have any willpower.

what kind of fucked up society do you live in?
people will literally give you the stink eye for ordering a soda when dining out.

canabis.
Literally nobody has ever stopped. Not even as a challenge

Seriously? What kind of asshole gives a fuck about what someone else is drinking.

I used to drink at least three cans of soda nearly every day. I also used to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day. The soda was much, much easier.

>served with every meal
just have unsweet tea or water then.
>sold at every store
just don't buy it.

cigs are more addictive than heroin so fags of course

i smoked for 15 years and quit cold turkey, it was only shitty for like a week and then was a minor annoyance if i thought about it for like a month after. now the idea of smoking, the smell, and the taste disgust me

after 3 days all the things in your body that make you want to quit smoking are gone. just because your a low will power bitch nigger doesnt mean everyone else is

>Implying soda is addictive

I quit for weeks at a time before willingly using again after I feel "better". T-breaks, you know. The first couple nights suck due to insomnia, but you get over that. The real problem is boredom. Your brain is so deprived of dopamine, you start getting restless and agitated because you're basically missing your happy chemical. When you're home alone, nothing to do, you get extreme cravings to get high. However, that lasts for a week maybe. The rest is easy. Most people don't want to quit because they love weed and see nothing wrong with it, which is right. It's like an addiction to food or porn; purely psychological and can only be determined harmless on a case by case basis.

Cigarettes are different. Nicotinic receptors are all over your body, and are highly sensitive. Abuse over months, years can be damaging, and quitting cold turkey can be very uncomfortable for your body. So not only are you fucking up your brains chemistry but also your body, and quitting cold is one of the hardest things you can do. Physical symptoms last a week or two, cravings are forever. And even just one cig can send you back to hell since it takes so little nic to recharge your system.

Cigarettes are the hardest thing to quit behind heroin, benzos (withdrawal can KILL you) and cocaine. Amphetamines are as hard as cigs

>implying caffeine isn't addictive

You clearly do not understand the concept of addiction.

Cigarettes obviously.

Soda is hardly addictive, if you think you're addicted to soda then you have some other horrible dietary issues. Eat well and you won't crave sugar water.

Im 22 and I stopped at about 20, dont really agree with that guy, a lot of people my age or even older stick with soda, I just switched gradually to wine, in my country its fairly cheap and is what is traditionally drunk with a meal.
Soda isnt bad but its too sweet, why would I want candy on drink form when I can have it in dessert form

No sugar, no caffeine, just love. :)

I like cigs but buy a pack once every few months, smoke a bunch and then don't smoke for awhile. I don't drink alcohol more than a couple times a year but when i do I usually want a cig. The only time I drink pop is with a take out meal like pizza or Chinese where it just goes so well together. Otherwise I'll just have a Coke Zero or Pepsi max if I want one bad enough...

Why don't you soda addicts just switch to a low calorie soda like the green Can of Coke or a Coke Zero ? At least you'll avoid the sugar.

>soda is addictive

the habit was having one every day. he did drop that habit, and now has a new one. A habit is sort of like a ritual and is changed if you do it in a different way.

I quit smoking relatively easy. When I got some pain in my lungs I didn't like it anymore

20 year old here, that's a load of bologna.

Technically anything can be addictive

What is wrong with all the weak beta bitches. I have had plenty of cigarettes and soda, both are shit.

>quit soda
Fucking Americans I swear.

The real question is what's harder to quit smoking, soda pop, or Veeky Forums?

So lets say I quit soda but began drinking equal amounts of juice instead. Am I still going to be just as fat?

I quit both about 3 months ago, but have been drinking a lot of beer the last 5 years every single day BUT I haven't had one in 2 days although I want one, I still have cravings often for the cigarettes but not so much the soda

Sodarettes

I just switched to diet pop, the carbonation is all I really need.

Cigarettes don't do it for me. I smoke black n milds occasionally like a nig.

why would you eat something sweet when you can drink it? See how you look?

aint nothing like a good sodie pop

You mean those cans of disgusting liquid my uncle leaves on my coffee table?

Smokers refrain from smoking more than drinkers of sugared water. You never get asked for permission to drink soda.

cigarettes

soda you can just switch to juice

I've only been smoking Veeky Forums for a few weeks, so its probably easier to quit than smoking soda pop for me.

for soda just switch to coffee.

A soda a day is still less than average, most people will have one for lunch and dinner as well as one or two in-between. Hell, I drink 2 liters a day.

Soda. I've only managed to quit soda once for about 3 months. I've quit cigarettes twice. Once for 3 months and the second time for 2 years

have you given up fapping?

Been drinking Coke everyday for years.
Decided water is more healthy
Haven't had a coke in about 3-4 months, despite a half full case of 48 still in my pantry

Never been addicted to cigs tho

No. I've thought about it, though. At the very least giving up porn. I watch violent porn, and I'm not sure if I could enjoy masturbation or sex without it.

yes. if you want to lose weight you should only be drinking coffee, water, and bourbon

Is this really the mind of an american? the answer is obviously cigarettes ffs. I found it easy to quit those but you don't have to 'quit' soda FFS. just choose to drink less of it or cut it out completely and drink water+milk.

I drink eight glasses of water a day, and two to three cans of pepsi.

I've looked into 'quitting' soda, but nothing I've found scratches the itch it does. I don't generally eat eat candy, or chocolate. I factor in calories, and time of enjoyment, and soda just usually wins out. A Snicker's bar is heavier on you, and can be done in a few minutes. I sip on my drink for 20+.

If I could find something better, I would, though.

my dick

Seltzer

You like the carbonation more than you know

Soda since cigs are taxed like a motherfucker in CA

Definitely the case for me. I drink Topo Chico and beer over soda almost entirely now.

halfway through being 20, keep soda around for either my gf or for mixing with alcohol. soda started to suck for me around the time i found beer.

Not him, but I actually find seltzer really hard to drink. It's way more carbonated than soda and it has this almost salty sort of taste to it regardless of whether or not it's flavored seltzer. Now before someone says "it's because you're used to drinking tons of sugar", I also drink water throughout the day and I don't find it bad at all.
