ITT the dumbest things people have fallen for:

“Hey give us $10,000 and we’ll send you $600 worth of hardware and access to the “new internet” which is just a glorified VPN that still has to go through your existing ISP”

best scam in a while, ppl fell for it. god why cant I start something like this

Why are people so butthurt about Skyminer distribution when other projects collect literally hundreds of millions for a whitepaper? If anything it's way LESS scammy than your average ICO.

I actuay like it I think its super slick. People think “oh look only 1 bitcoin to mine all these other coins” and forget they’re being scammed into paying 10k for $600 worth of hardware. Its a very clever scam and people get so wrapped up in a pipe dream they dont want to believe they’re getting scammed - just like with an MLM

Skycoin fud is so fucking pathetic. Yeah, I’m sure solar bankers and metallicoin and MDL and spaco and Jane Zhang (if you don’t know who this is you’re an idiot) and MiT labs Kissinger are all gonna stamp their names on a scam. Real stupid. Patrick Dai even stamped his name on this project and was one of the first people to put up serious money to fund it. Unbelievable. Imagine thinking you’re smarter than all of these people.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Don't forget it's not even mineing, it's running a VPN node

Yeah I’m not a bot buddy kys. I don’t even know why I bother going on biz any more.

For anyone following along at home, you pay one bitcoin and get whatever the exchange rate is in Skycoin, minus the $600 for the mining rig, which mines by passing along network traffic and will eventually hook in to 5G antennas.

If I wanted free lifetime premium access to the sky network I just need to make my own router and 1 skycoin to generate hours?

That's still PoW user, it's mining network requests rather than solving hashes for a chance to be rewarded with a block.

>buy miner for $10000
>get miner for $600
>also get $9400 worth of skycoins
Why did you omit this part?

Did it come out as a scam?

Coinhours function for trading coins. It's like gas in ethereum except you don't pay out of pocket, it's just something that accrues by virtue of holding coins.

you can either hold skycoin or run a node if you want to earn coin hous/use the network for free

But I thought coinhours were used to pay for network access. Also holding one skycoin should give enough for 24 hours of access a day. That’s what I remember reading

I could be wrong. Or we're both right. Still reading up on it and deciding to buy or not.

People still hold this? It's already down -80.59% and still dropping.

I used to think all these people were way smarter until I remembered to just look at the fundamentals. Dot com boom was the same thing - people got so wrapped up in it they forgot to look at the fundamentals. Steve jobs’ ghost himself could have signed off on this and it would still be bs. In each of these cases take whatever chuck e cheese coins they’re minting and ask yourself if the business could succeed if you used $ instead of tokens - if it makes zero sense then you’ve been hoodwinked. Tokens and blockchains dont magically change a business model’s viability any less than adding “.com” to a business made it magically work in 2001. People then and now are getting hoodwinked into buying into a shitty business disguised with fancy tech and told if they don’t believe in it they’re just too dumb. It crashed and burned in the dot com bust and the exact same thing will happen here. Fundamentals are fundamentals, and skywire makes zero sense if you asked people to actually pay for these rigs and nodes in a real currency they could understand.

Oh also I dont think those people realize its a scam or that it even is a scam - they’re just making the same mistake and falling for the same delusions as everyone in the dot com bubble

This.

And it's true even if the product is decentralized as well. There's many instances where the product could work fine if it's centralized. There's very few instances where decentralization is necessary.

How many 5g antennae’s would be necessary to cover a small city and make sky net independent from isps

The scam is that they’ve tricked you into thinking skycoins are worth anything. I dont know why people don’t realize these are just chuck e cheese tokens they’re printing, they have no actual value. There is no such thing as $9400 worth of skycoin because skycoins and all these other coins are not actually worth anything - they dont even have to be mined they’re just pulling these out of the air like monopoly money. Smdh

Kek, so they're selling you their premined shitcoin? Fuck, seems legit. I love how they just casually pegged their shitcoin to BTC at a fixed rate. If I went on an exchange and bought 9400 skycoins, would it be 1 BTC user?

Its not outright fraud, its a scam in the sense that its basically financial broscience and asking people to give up bitcoin in exchange for magic beans

SKYCOIN is legit! This will clear all doubts. This guy knows his stuff

Thank you - sometimes I feel like im nuts when i talk about this because people are so rabid believers they dont want to hear it

Yep. So true. That said, using $ to pay for it means you still need a centralised actor. So I do see this as potentially a viable use of Blockchain tech.

We could make a wireless mesh network much easier than this (a linux distribution to run a raspberry pi and an antenna at the minimum), and if we wanted to have a decentralised way to track nodes & handle billing, paying for the nodes etc you could just use an Ethereum smart contract and sell access using Ether. Not a bad idea actually.....

But yeah, this Skycoin is a load of shit.

Haha I just realized its called skynet. You know - like the terminator. Anyway IDK how much - I think more realistic is something like google is doing with internet broadcasting weatherballoons. For countries with imperfect infrastructure they’re just gonna broadcast interwebs from those. Google is an ISP too now btw so they’re basically building what skynet wants to do already.

Look, how is this possible then??

>open cmc
>check skycoin
Oh my it is worth something
Kek you are stupid.
At current rate you would get 700 skycoins

Yeah the concept and the tech are interested - and lots of cool ways to tackle that problem (see google’s LTE balloons)

they give you back your money is well though. People are butthurt because they didn't get on the list for a miner.

It is both.

Yeah read up on theglobe.com and how their stock went from $97 to 10 cents once people realized it was bullshit. These things only have value as long as people believe they have value - once they figure out its all monopoly money the whole house of cards come falling down.

They give you back your money huh? And is that in USD or is that in whatever chuck e cheese token they convinced you has value?

They're gonna have 15km directional range. This hardware 'miner' is only for the test net, the fgpa miners will be able to slap on their custom antennae for that range. With line of sight and elevation thwy can apparently do near 50km.

Nig nogs

and this company will maintain the 5g antennas globally? how will the antennas cross the oceans? sattelites?

why could they not do this without a blockchain?

but if you have a miner what good are the fucking skycoins except for re selling and crashing the market?

how do they deal with people looking up how to make bombs or child porn? does the node operator take on the risk or is the company liable?

>how do they deal with people looking up how to make bombs or child porn?
Oh no, terrorists and child molesters! Better sign over all our privacy to the government so it can keep track of them!

that not an answer to the question. why should i go to jail for operating what is essentially an exit node just because you like to fap to little kids?

Link shill

LMAO look at the ID... samefag

Skycoin is so great, I heard the original Bitcoin devs started Skycoin to solve Bitcoin's problems. It's got nfinite scalability and zero fees too while decentralizing the internet, how can you not be all in? I know I am.

Yeah I know probably the #no1 project right now in crypto

Has anyone figured out why it needs all those orange pis like what is that design?
