You're supposed to trust that anons who know how to code understand the smart contract and believe it's safe to use. It's pretty much how most open source software works, by multiple verifications from different parties (audits etc) that say that XYZ software is legit (or not).
Besides, there's so much potential profit to be made by staking a proper running node, that it provides golden goose levels of opportunity, no need to scam anyone if we can all make it together and all that...
It'll be pretty standard stuff once the whole thing rolls out anyway, there will be smart contract templates for nodes and shit.
