Statistically, how much does my vote matter?

Statistically, how much does my vote matter?

fuck off

What? I'm not requesting conspiracy/rigging theories; I'm asking a very direct question.

Also, is it true that in a two-party majority system, voting third party only deprives the underdog (among the two parties) of votes?

your choice doesn't affect the choice of others.

Depends on where you're located.

If you're located in a region that's been gerrymandered all to hell, it probably doesn't, because that area has already literally been designed to elect only one part.

But if you're in a region that can swing either way, it matters quite a bit.

Retards saying shit like "hurr your vote doesn't matter" are usually high-school dropouts that don't understand we're a republic and not a democracy, but they just use it as an excuse so they won't look like as much of a loser when they just hang out and smoke weed on Election Day instead of voting.

Not deprivation from other people, deprivation in the sense that I'm "throwing away" a vote that would help the #2 in the election

If you are in a swing state, a very tiny bit. If you are in a safe state your vote does not matter

>we're a republic and not a democracy
stopped reading there. thanks for sharing

that would only matter if the difference between the first and second candidate is one vote.
it doesn't help that FPTP is a retarded system

Reading is hard, huh?

stop embarrassing yourself

>United States is a democracy
You are retarded. The founding fathers did not favor democracies, they favored Republics. We are a republic, our civil war song is the "Battle Hymn of the Republic", the fucking Pledge of Allegiance says to the "...To the Republic for which it stands.".

Thanks for being retarded.

50% because you either win or you don't.

It depends on the state you live in. If you live in hard blue or hard red states it doesnt matter at this point in the election. In teetering states, it matters a lot.
If you want your vote to really matter though, regardless of where you live, you should push for 3rd party candidates in your state. The more divisive a state is on votes, and the more people running that actually have a chance of winning, the more your vote matters. A 6 person race where everyone is neck and neck makes your vote matter a helluva lot more, and the sheer levels of competition would probably help ensure that politicians work their best to carry out on their promises once in office.

your vote is also worth less in a large state and worth more in a small state.
though really, elections are an illusion. the parties pick who they wanted to win. then it is just a matter of shaping the public to vote that way. if you believe the wikileaks. hillary had the media suppress bernie's chances and prop up trump. So that she would be a shoe in.

It doesn't matter if you're voting for Hilary, don't bother voting cause she's gonna win anyways.

If you're voting for Trump, then your vote matters a lot, so definitely go out to the polls.

it matters

>hurr durr no true scotsman

don't forget that even in hard blue or hard red states there is still a body of people who turn out to vote, which makes it blue or red. just because your vote will not be the deciding vote in an election doesn't mean it won't count

USA population in 1970: 205,000,000

Population in 2016: 322,000,000

Population in 2050: 438,000,000

>Between 2005 and 2050, the nation's population will increase to 438 million from 296 million, a rise of 142 million people that represents growth of 48%. Immigrants who arrive after 2005, and their U.S.-born descendants, account for 82% of the projected national population increase during the 2005–2050 period.

So,

in 1970 1 vote was worth 1:208 million

Today it is worth 1:322 million

In 2050 it is worth 1:438 million

That is, because of completely idiotic and heedless immigration and amnesties, a person voting power had declined by 35% and by 2050 if immigration is allowed to continue (the only real driver of population growth a persons' vote will be about half what it was in 1970.

Its SUPER IMPORTANT to vote, but remember they also want you to vote for policies that make your vote WORTH LESS.

YOUR PARENTS GENERATION IS FUCKING YOU UP THE ASS

Vote Trump, kick em out now.

(1/population of your state) * (number of electoral votes your state gets/ total electoral votes)

Population vote only matters for the state, you have to relate it to the influence your state has toward a win.

This. The election is just a fancy show to make individuals feel important and not realize we're in essentially what amounts to being a behind the scenes dictatorship. You have no more control over who our leaders our than you do over gravity.

>Implying 100% of the population is of voting age

>implying the entire population votes

>just because your vote will not be the deciding vote in an election doesn't mean it won't count
That is exactly what it means.

Holy crap.

>Statistically, how much does my vote matter?

something like 1:200,000,000
