Donald Trump Advancements

Only a few more hours until america is made great again!

But seriously, lets get to the point.

If Donald Trump wins the presidential election, what scientific advances can we hope to see?

Not many since he plans to cut funding to NASA's earth science departments.

A total war under Hillary would lead to greater scientific progress

He's too busy collecting money to be interesting in things

Hopefully none because it is already time that the government stops funding "advancements" when private industry is already more than capable of funding innovations on their own, literally all the time, and start using the money they waste on NASA on regular citizens.

Oh, guess what? Trump is the middle class and lower class pandering candidate. So none! Finally.

Seriously, every time I hear about the new 10 billion fucking spaceshit I cringe hard. Papa Trump will fix that and put that money back in the economy.

eliminate federal finding for development / delivery of vaccinations, to solve the autism epidemic.
mandatory creationism education.
eliminate the EPA, so the chinese can't keep foolin us with their fancy talk of anthropogenic climate change

Please go back to r/tumblr

If you seriously believe that Trump wants those things then you have been succesfully brainwashed.

Is it just me that thinks hillary hired a comedian to run against her? -- "Crooked hillary"

I don't think trump really even wants to win, I'd say he's actually trying to throw the election without it being too obvious -- "If i lose it's rigged" - ""I'm not trying to lose!!""

>If Donald Trump wins the presidential election, what scientific advances can we hope to see?
Hobbyists are probably going to have more money. Lots of engineers working on garage projects and probably finding ways to bring things to market that are currently just research subjects.

Hillary is going to be pissed if she still loses
Through her proxy, there will be wrath

youtu.be/AffuKjGV6BA?t=98

>I'm in total favor of vaccines
>I just want smaller doses over a longer period of time

These are his words on how he is going to act. The talk about autism is what he believes. I think that what matters is how he is going to act and I see nothing wrong having the government officials in charge to at least re-think how often certain shots need to be taken for children.

There is nothing wrong with that!

I am not delusional. I know that Donald Trump is not "our guy" so I only care about how he is going to act. You continue sucking Hillary's tits by attacking the minute flaws in his character by ignoring his policy. That is how useful idiots are made useful and kept idiots.

Policy promises made during campaigns are cheap as free, a.k.a. they're not binding commitments; they are quite close to meaningless, especially for those without any party commitments.

I judge peoples' future behavior by what I can observe of their behavior in the present. If I were hiring someone to work for me, inability to behave like an adult during the interview would be disqualifying.

Look, you are right. But Trump has a big positive point: He is not Hillary.

He is not Hillary and that is all I need. And I am glad Trump is winning

TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP

But when he is in office assasinate him and put Bernie.

>But when he is in office assasinate him and put Bernie.
lel, this

You guys are actually voting for an undereducated moron who denies basic science and believes conspiracy theories to be the most powerful man on Earth ...

and you think it's a good thing ...

on a science board.

He doesn't believe any of it, he just panders to the people that do to gain votes. Most people here are Bernfags.

He literally said we should get Bill Gates to shut the internet down in Syria, like it is a physical thing with a switch. That my friend is just plain stupid, not pandering.
But regardless of who wins, goodbye election cycle and hello impeachment cycle.

He obviously isn't tech savvy, but a lot of his apparently simplistic statements are intended. He is targeting the simple Americans that understand simple terms, the good and the bad, the black and the white. And apparently he's been very successful.

his son does the computers, didn't you know?

>what scientific advances can we hope to see?
hair care products will only get better and better;
also penis creams.

Good, because all they seem to do is waste money sending rovers to mars.

I hate to ask this because of what it implies, but
How exactly does the electoral college work?
We get a popular vote within a state and then what?

The president barely has anything to do with the scientific agenda.

>what scientific advances can we hope to see?

uh, none

I guess he can influence the ethics side, this can lead to advances in studies on human embryos.

this would be a dream, a trojan horse to religious poo

When you win the majority of a state's population, you win that state's electoral votes. States have larger electoral vote counts when they have larger populations, California is worth 55, Vermont is worth 3.

But that means you can run up a huge millions of votes lead in a state you already won and you don't get any additional electoral votes for doing it, while if you lose in another state by a 51-49 margin that guy can get more electoral votes than you.

Fuck off.

haha bitch

>>Trump scientific advancements

you can expect a serious decrease in scientific funding nationwide.
Education funding in general will take a hit.
And a general increase in the trend of anti-intellectualism in America.

This. Trump is the victory of stupidity and ignorance.

I don't even know where to start with your comment. You are literally communicating with people all over the world with technology created by government funding. Scientific funding to universities and private companies generates so much wealth in America.

Also NASA doesn't send money to mars you knuckle dragger. It gets spent on the space project. Most of that goes to American engineers, technicians and operators. There are always more blue collar workers than white. So under funding NASA is taking money directly out of the hands of really smart and hardworking people from all walks of life. It also is useful for shit like satellites? We have to pay the fucking russians to put our private industry stuff into space because congress quit funding nasa so the Saturn V program shut down.

This will all make sense after you finish high school.

HAHAHAHAH pseudo intellectual nu-males in this thread cry more please!

This is an 18+ board.

stop trying to bullshit so hard shillary drones. its over. get over and stop crying

Science cannot exist unless it is funded by the government, therefore all science will disappear

Source?

He's anti-science so probably none.

youtube.com/watch?v=TPfa5VuTVN4

lolololol I'm a scientist kiddo.
No fan of Shillary and no fan of Drumpf.
Im a fan of science and engineering.
Politics is a game for people who cant do calculus.

This desu yo. I don't want that, but it's true.

Unfortunately politics will fuck up how I do my science. It already has in the past few years(UK blanket drug ban).

Probably none senpai.

Expect the markets to tank tomorrow as well.

Newt Gingrich is a space cadet and him and Trump are tight.

>If Donald Trump wins the presidential election, what scientific advances can we hope to see?

Not much.
Education would reduce his voter base, he's going to be against it. Funding stuff that relies on education seems like it would take away from the big 'national building' projects that he's going to do to a) build jobs temporarily and b) give to his own companies to siphon taxes into his pocket.

In reality, congress probably won't approve 90% of the shit he wants to do.

>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faithless_elector
Except that they have never once influenced the result of an election and haven't even happened in over a decade.

If it were going to happen though, GoP delegates defecting to Dems in this election is definitely the best case for it happening that we'll see in years.

I assume you went to college as well, so let's stop pretending like "educated" means anything outside of STEM fields.

>put in Bernie

this to the maximax

the people elected him exclusively because hes not a traditional candidate, and because they want "change"

of course that change will be a verticla decline in the standard of living of the majority of the working class

next time, vote a socialist like sanders who will bring a communist revolution of socialist happines you inbred mongoloids

no there wont

>In reality, congress probably won't approve 90% of the shit he wants to do.

but doesn't the GOP basically control congress, especially with Trump as president

And nobody thought Trump would win. Yet here we are. Now you're saying 90% of what he says won't be approved.? lol.

It's posts like these that remind me that I severely overestimated america

He was leading in voters that made 35k+ (or was it 50k+)
So, the college educated people that support hillary are all liberal arts majors.

>directly out of the hands of really smart and hardworking people

Yeah, the belittlement is bullshit. Of course a lot of what he wants will be approved. Maybe not the first idea that pops into his head, but he will certainly know how to get his shit through congress one way or another.

Also, a lot of politics happens in the physical reality, not just on bills and whatnot. He will physically be in foreign countries and physically talk to representatives of other countries. He has zero experience with that. I believe there is a lot of potential for fuckups from that direction. He doesn't strike me as a talented politician or diplomat. He seems rather clumsy as can be seen during his whole campaign.

It's common knowledge that business is traditionally republican.

>Bernie
>Will bring about communist revolution
Please, that liberal fuck would never incite violent revolution or seizure of the means of production. Just more taxes

...

No. You're going to celebrate with us.

>science is done by private sector
The vast majority of important scientific achievements are from universities. The Nobel prizes are almost always from professors from unis.
>put money back into the economy
That's not how it works

scrap iran deal => IRAN war (iran is done for now)

scrap obamacare => uninsurance

NO global warming policies, it's a hoax by china

unemployment, shitty economy, because both house and senate are now republican

liberals are opposition now just as in the bush years, remember what happened after that

...

Well if you bomb the communication buildings/ DNS servers you literally switch off the internet.

>liquor store
>Utah

What in the name of Mormon Jesus?

>Heavy drinking in New Hampshire

Can't blame them.

I think the fact that he was elected is going to spur a whole bunch of studies in sociology.

The liberal bias in education has made colleges a liberal paradise. Academia does not protect unpopular opinions.

oh I am laffin

Explain what anything you said has to do with the post you replied to.

Are you a bot...?

That he supported a loser?
It's not like he predicted a loser, like whatshisname

>he doesn't believe it

Keep telling yourself that to rationalize people's poor choice last night

Pence is also pretty anti-science and I expect him (as the more experienced on policy) to be holding Donalds hand for the first few months, likely introducing him to everyone's favorite pro-religion, anti-science think tanks to get his info from.

Donald has made it abundantly clear that he is a confirmation bias seeking fool. Which people he surrounds himself with to get information will determine the future of this country and I suspect he is going to make some very dumb choices in that regard

I sincerely hope I am wrong, but the guy has basically lived on a twitter echo chamber and doesn't show any signs of reading or listening to people's opinions that differ from his worldview. That worked out great for getting him elected, so why would he suddenly change?

Stop trolling so hard /pol/tard. Its over. Go celebrate on your own board and leave us alone

>>put money back into the economy
>That's not how it works

it's exactly how it works

Obama is the one who advocated and approved funding NASA missions to Mars.

Cool rhetoric man, which talk radio shows and/or youtube channels are you a fan of my man? I want to become more le repuddled xD

That liquor store result is useless, barely making a bump during the time when the stores are actually open. Probably looks like that daily.

Traditionally yes, this cycle had the Dems being the business party. Trump represents a populist coup that seized control of the party, hence a lot of, not all, big business influence went to support Clinton.

That was actually a negative for her, because there is a growing animosity toward the business sector of our country. This is true on both the left and the right, Trump felt the shift and Clinton did not. It's ironic in a way, the business mogul led a rhetorical revolt against business interests. How this will play out in terms of policy though is another matter. The house and senate are still largely dominated by the old guard GOP who do support business interests and Trump himself may very well show that his allegiance actually lies there as well.

We can also forget any of Obama's gains on climate change initiatives. Pretty sure those are as good as dead. We have very little time for any pivoting, and we've just delayed it for at least 4 years. We don't have 4 years.

please, don't lie to meee :(

Mormons are literally retarded and you can only buy light beer at gas stations and grocery stores, everything else is at state run liquor stores, so it's much more likely to be mentioned
t. salty utah resident

A Trump presidency can only mean bad things for science.

This man openly believes that vaccines cause autism. He has a public disdain for science and intellectualism, and there will be a general public trend toward this (even more than before) because these beliefs are now completely out of the closet. He will work to reverse all progress against climate change. He said in an 89-word Reddit post that he "loves NASA," yet elsewhere he says "right now we have bigger problems - we need to fix our potholes." He's all over the place, which is bad news for any kind of stable support to NASA (or, really, any other scientific agencies).

As for evolution vs. creationism, he says "I believe in both." Personally, I don't think he cares much about evolution, as his religious-right platform was relatively low-key in comparison to his appeal to xenophobia. Evolution has little to do with his "plan" to build a wall.

>Trump himself may very well show that his allegiance actually lies there as well.
Of course his allegiance lies with them as well. He's a businessman himself, whose firms continually con the very people who support him.

How can people be this fucking stupid. Hillary is a dirty fucking snake and trump is a delusional bigot. We were fucked from the start. Sagan and Hitchens are rolling in their grave.

not completely true, he goes in for much more investing in military.

more money in military=more money to engineering

>muh golden mean fallacy
Trump is obviously far worse for scientific advancement than Hillary would've been.

What a time to be alive.

How much money do we really need to invest into sucking dick?

Horrifying but actually true. Gib me dat sweet blood money.

He's saying the game is rigged, that's not the golden mean fallacy stop repeating the names of fallacies you've read on wikipedia without any regard for context

Close. I was trying to make the point that both nominees were a fucking joke from the start. I wasn't making a point of who's the lesser evil. You're right in that he fucked up his 'muh fallacy' accusation.

He's said he wants those things.

What is up with conservatives and claiming their candidates don't want the things they want?

Thanks. Thats what I was wondering.
The BBC said that a couple electors pledged not to vote for hillary no matter what. I was wondering if we'd see something like that with trump seeing as there's a huge divide in the party

>mandatory creationism education.

As far as I know he doesn't care about that. Others like Pence, on the other hand...

>eliminate the EPA
After things like that mine residues spill I dunno if it's a good riddance or not, I'm speaking through my ignorance as I don't know how frequently stuff like this happens.

Also, legit question. How much damage could the elimination of EPA cause? Apparentely there are other federal agencies, are they not powerful enough, have less competence or what?

Geologist here, you would shit your pants to know what people have already thrown into our rivers lakes and streams, now imagine what you already barely know about getting worse.

Welcome to new hell.

Don't forget, you're also brainwashed and global warming is a hoax.

And what he says is those times are over and the private sector can handle it themselves, what also proved itself in the recent years, maybe you should actually go to highschool instead being a neckbeard writing down his fantasies?

Environmental engineer here. The Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act are some of the most important pieces of legislation out there have have improved our country substantially. Lots of other important things from the EPA as well.

I meant to say the King Mine spill as an example of a fuckup by EPA, because I don't know if they are reliable and that was just an isolated accident or not.

But even if they aren't, that scenario you pictured seems pretty depressing, don't the other federal agencies have enough power to do anything at all?

The Earth will be proven flat, global warming will turn out to be a myth, air pollution will be good for you, gambling will cure cancer, pornography will be classified as a disease.
