So what happens in 2050?

So what happens in 2050?
Source is UN world pop prediction

world war 2 episode 2

Nothing to see here folks, move along.

what is the Y axis units
i dont even

There are multiple graphs here boy, so they can't have one Y axis unit

A hero will rise.

Effects of peak energy. They are trying to smooth out the curves a bit with the AGW meme and hydrocarbon rationing.

>population predictions

into the trash it goes

I duno, it's not like they are climate predictions, we can be fairly certain 7 billion or so monkeys will carry on fornicating and one thing in life is certain, monkeys will do anything to survive. If standards of living decline which is likely that will accelerate population growth. I think the UN has spent much time on those computations and are probably fairly accurate. I think they say about 10 billion in 2050 which is probably overshoot for carrying capacity of the planet but yeah, who really knows.

If memory serves, 2050 is the approximate benchmark for when overfishing the seas will start to have a direct impact on food distribution in the Pacific and Atlantic.

The oceans are predicted to have risen considerably by then as well, meaning there will be mass migration as people move in from the coasts. Much more densely populated areas, paired with disruptions in food distributions and easier communicability of certain diseases, means we're about to get royally fucked. Continent-wide plagues of antibiotic-resistant superbugs wreaking havoc across a slowly shrinking landmass, drought, extremely volatile weather patterns...

If you're still alive in 2050 you'll probably wish you weren't.

Malthusians get BTFO. Again.

Im sure most of us here will be alive then.

Eh it won't be that bad. Everybody's gotta die someday. Let's do what we can now to try to make the future a better place (or else leave this planet and the sub-human right-wingers behind and build a socialist utopia on Mars).

>socialist
Because that's worked out great in the past..

...

Resource crash?

>births going off the chart even though population is declining and resources/food/services/entirefuckingeconomy is crashing.

yeah... the pundits got it wrong.

The population starts to smoothe out as older generation (Baby boomers/Baby boomers children/3rd worlders) die out.

>multiple graphs can't have one Y axis unit
Lrn2graph, Grandpa

I'm going be that ebin grandpa with self sufficient living methods. Our family will be the greatest of Anarchaeia.

>build a socialist utopia on Mars
>socialist

How do you think the Earth got overpopulated to begin with?

So back to the dark ages great

When do we also finally realize the globe is warming

>Making predictions 34 years into the future.
I wouldn't trust it.

>Let's do what we can now to try to make the future a better place
Or let the future be shit and just enjoy the decadent, unsustainable present while it lasts.

>muh global warming

fuck off

This, few select resources are starting to diminish and fresh water will become a valuable commodity.

socialism works great as long as you keep out the uncivilized.

> So what happens in 2050?
The end of cheap oil/coal as a power source.

IF we switch to a natural gas-based economy, we may be able to extend that.

The problem is that petrochemicals are required for plastics. Without plastics, the economy crashes on a scale that will basically end the stock market.

A survivalist's wank fest.

Yes, let's not learn from the lessons of the past. It's not history ever repeats itself or anything.

He will finally have his day
