The real science is in using what we do know to try and discover what we dont know. You dont do that until you get to higher level courses.

Physics is just fancy mathematics

Mostly, while studying it.
After it can be a way of plugging and chugging shit noone has ever tried before, borrowing shit from mathematical studies, see how it can be applied to model new phenomena.

All in all, it's about using maths to look at reality, rather than figuring out how you can find a new sort of imaginary constellation of impossible variables on an idealised surface of N dimensions, whereby you can put your name on an obscurity which has no applicable value.

Also fluids, solids, experimental confirmation of theoretical models... Applied mathematics with the goal of looking at/for phenomena we can observe and measure in our world.

For the mathematicians out there; It's the constant striving to figure out which of the mathematically proofs we can use in the world we live in.

Mathematics per se can be reduced to an idealised situation of logical constructs. (Gödel's Incompleteness Theorem though, shows us we must be careful with Axioms and other assumptions. Physics tries figuring out which assumptions may be relevant to "objective reality". )
