Asian food is hella delicious, but god damn they fucking SUCK at making desserts.

Agree. Love Asian food, but sticky rice cakes filled with sweet bean paste are about as desirable as scooping up the sawdust and eating it after I cut wood.

Fwiw, I don't like desserts other than fruit, period.

it's the fact that lactose intolerance is a huge thing in asia. No butter or cream makes for a lot of boring desserts.

They also lack the french/european influences for a lot of cakes with simple non-rice flour.

So you mostly are left fruit/beans and loads of sugar and riceflour.
