I'm a cheap college student, so sue me

A growler of mystery beer left on my doorstep by my neighbor, who constantly tries to cheer me up but knows I don't like answering my door.
I'll find out how it is tomorrow.

Any idea what you can do with Licor 43? I bought some today on a whim, and I'm kinda stumped

Good balance of nice and basic. Based tastes user.

This had hit $30 in LA.

Fuckung reddit memed it so hard its officially the 2nd most overpriced shit behind Patron tequila.

Its literally a dollar cheaper than Eagle rare.

Dickel 12 is a good high-corn alternative.

didn't want to start a thread for this, so I will ask here. Anyone know if I can get this bottle in the states? I have searched online and local stores do not have this. It's really good and the only way I have to get it is to wait for a friend to visit his senpai in mexico once a year or so and he sneaks one back for me.

Ment to get a scotch this weekend but haven't bought any before and wasn't sure what to get

Maker's tastes and smells like glue, there are far better bourbons in that price range. Buffalo does come to mind. Smirnoff is shit tier, Russian Standard Vodka is best bang for buck, very much real vodka comrade

No bottle lasts more than 2days in my house so the only thing on my liquor shelf is the suicide note from my liver

always wanted to try that stuff.

Stop drinking that much you alcoholic

Scored a bottle of mexican fernet today. It's like Branca, but more challenging to mix with. I'm sipping it right now with homemade apricot liqueur, overproof rum and orange juice, on the rocks.

>Its literally a dollar cheaper than Eagle rare.
So get eagle rare.
Unless I'm mistaken, it's the same juice aged longer.

That's all I'm missing from my bar when it comes to liquor

Wew lad. I pretty much only drink Fernet and vodka. I never mix Fernet though, just do ginger ale with it sometimes.

Who here has trouble drinking Islay single malt? It's just too intense in flavor for me. Like I want to like it but I'm having a hard time. I feel like I need to force myself to drink it. I don't want to waste the bottle I bought.

I go back and forth between this and Tanqueray Rangpur depending on my mood.

iktf. I have a quarter of a bottle of Evan Williams Single Barrel sitting in my kitchen that's been there for the better part of two years that I have to force myself to drink even watered down. I don't care for whiskey in general but this stuff in particular is so syrupy it's actually made me gag the few times I attempted to drink it neat.

The problem i'm having with my Ardbeg 10 is that it's so smokey and peaty that it just assaults my pallate

A friend of mine pairs smokey peaty scotch with cold smoked salmon. Sounds like it would be too much, but it's amazing. The fish taste and oil isn't even an issue, it's just a great pre-dinner thing we do when I'm visiting him on the east coast.

I had a somewhat similar experience with Jim Beam Black, it's like having a mouth full of smoked wood shavings and leather.

See now I've had Jim Beam black and I could handle it. But Islay Scotch is a whole 'nother beast

There's more uses for scotch than sipping. I personally have an Islay that I don't care much for straight, but that adds a fantastic touch of smoke to a cocktail when you rinse a glass with it.

have you tried Watershed?

I love Hendrick's but I wish the bottle wasn't opaque cause I like to know how much liquor is left in a bottle you know?

If you've never tried it in cocktails, you really should. Try a Toronto — just do an Old Fashioned, but with Fernet instead of bitters. I use a quarter of an ounce of Branca to 1.5 oz whiskey, haven't tried it with this new stuff.

Am I retarded? Are you not supposed to drink it straight? I just looked up other Fernet cocktails, and Fernet is always at a minimal amount.

I honestly think you are supposed to drink it straight. It was originally created as a medicine, after all. But I'm really big into cocktails, and I like challenging ingredients with bold flavors, so I often mix with long pours of fernets, other amari and stuff that people generally think is pretty nasty straight.

Your neighbor made me smile. You should thank him man

If you want an interesting drink that uses Fernet as a base spirit, try something like what I'm having now. I call it the Abgrund.

1 oz fernet (I used Fernet-Vallet, but you can use Branca or whatever you choose)
3/4 oz cinnamon syrup
1/2 oz. Angostura bitters
1/2 oz dry sherry
1/2 oz lemon juice
Shake, strain, serve on the rocks, garnished with a lime wedge.

*lemon wedge

Do we count bitters?

A lot of people don't like this stuff, but I think it's pretty tasty. It's one of my favorite liquors.

Oh, god, I've heard such good things about Malört! What does it taste like?

It tastes like biting into a grapefruit rind. It has a bitter and herbal bite. I haven't had anything like it (although I haven't had many bitters). If you live in Chicago or any nearby cities (I'm in Madison), you can find a bottle for $20-25.

Unfortunately, I live in the Kansas City area. But something like that makes me want to take a road trip. I fucking love bitter liqueurs.

I usually drink my spirits neat, but this shit goes down like water with 3 parts Perrier.

The only spirit I don't like is Vodka. That shit is just plain foul.

I'll drink 47% Whisky, or the harshest bottom-shelf Brandy neat, but fuck vodka. It's only good for mixing, as a flavourless ethanol agent.

right now I have some ardbeg 10, jinro soju and charm soju

plan on getting some laphroaig 10 and ketel one next time I drop by the liquor store

Small collection atm but looking at quality not quantity

How long will it take all of those drinks to turn over?

Keeping alcohol longer than like 6 months just seems like a waste of cabinet space

>college freshman just discovered alcohol episode

>South Boston Irish Whiskey
>Liberty Tree Boston Rum

>Ouzo 12

>all these pleb drinks

it's not good

30% Fernet Branca
70% Coca-Cola

And a mickey of Dr. McGuillicuddys Peach Schnapps

Im pretty far gone too, trying to find another bottle of Stagg Jr but its near impossible now since im in a shitty state for bourbon so the only bottles left are expensive older releases.

Argentinian detected

How is this? Is it good to sip neat, or still a little too bottom-shelf for that?

I don't keep liquor at home bc I'm borderline al/ck/
But since money is less a problem than my life spiraling out of control, I probably drink a bottle of Jameson/Bulleit/Makers tier booze per week total at various bars.

When I had liquor at home, I only ever had three bottles at home at a time tops bc I just drink it all.

argentina is not white

Oh fuck i've had this. Really hard to get down.
