I've recently decided to try something: I want to deliver breakfast in my neighbourhood on Sat/Sunday Morning to earn some extra money.
So far these have been my thoughts: -Start with my street block first (~20 houses) for a test run to see if the demand is there. -I live in Switzerland -Offer them a free croissant for the first time -Contact the bakery from the next town (we dont have a good one) to get the food ready in advance (if they package for me, I won't have to touch/repackage the food, which would be a sanitary law issue)
Now here are some issues / things that need thoughts:
PAYMENTS: I don't want to run after the people for their money or wait at their door - I'd prefer to leave it at the doorstep/in the mail box (Yes, I might loose out on tip money)
I was thinking to tell them to put it in the mailbox overnight, and I'd pick it up while delivering (theft risk?)
Another solution would be to take like 20$ on the first order, and keep it as credit for them.
Ordering: For the first time, Id bring a letter to the 20 houses, telling them about my service. However, what would be the best way to place an order for them?
Telephone doesn't work, I'm busy during the day Website (woocommerce) is too much hassle for the customer Google forms would be nice but unprofessional Email would require me to transcribe lots of stuff and I might loose track.
So here are some questions for you guys: - What would be the best way to handle the payments? - Is there a good software/app to keep track of the payments / orders / people who have credit left? - Any online alternative to woocommerce? - Any other comments?:P
Do you have a big dick? Just fuck old grandmas for cash instead.

No college would allow it. Too much liability. Colleges also tend to have food service on campus locked down as a monopoly.

This sounds like one of those people use online payement for. Like foodora and justeat here in italy. That's the only way i can think of to avoid "on the spot" payment. But of course you lose on the poor people market and that requires a bigger organization anyway. Unless you build a faithful customer base i don't see a way to effectively avoid the hand to hand payment.

Well Id "trust" customers from my street with 1 order in advance, btw what about mobile cars readers? I found one for just 50$

First thing you need to do is research what licensing you'd need, what kind of insurance you'd need, if there's any laws or ordinances in the areas you'd be working in that could effect you, along with the usual business license, insurance, etc.
The idea isn't far fetched, as milk delivery in the UK can include food items.
As for your questions - you're an idiot. You're disallowing the most popular forms of payment, probably because you're lazy.
As for the other questions, if you can't do your homework for the basic structure of how you'll get paid, this whole thing is a pipedream. Most payment systems have everything you need to know, go read them, ask more question by email or if they have forums, educate yourself, then make a business decision. You're not going to get anywhere if you need your hand held on basic things like "How do I take orders" and "How do I get paid?"

What's the difference between that and cash then? You said you didn't want to wait for people. Once the person is there the reader and the cash take around the same time. You talk like he is trying to get rich off of this. He just wants to deliver sweets. He doesn't need to be smart for that.

Boi, I know what Stripe, PayPal does. I decided against them as the people in my street are old and wont use it. Leaving money in the box would be better for me since it causes less delay for the delivery, not because Im lazy.
I know how systems work, I just didn't find one with POS + Customers can have account credit.

Hmm, you have a point. I was thinking that RFID Payments are much faster than waiting for the people to count their money, give them back change, etc.

What he wants, and what the laws require aren't the same thing, asshole.
I was talking about the last part, not the law related things. Difference is not big enough to justify it honestly.

Look mom, I insulted everyone in the thread!
As far as I know, Im good if I dont touch the food. This makes it a delivery - If Id touch/handle it I'd be the "cook" and then theres a shit ton of regulations. Ill do some more research though.

I have about $50k laying around and I'm thinking of trying to start a fast food franchise. Subway seems like the only place I could start for that amount of money. Any other ideas? Source on that image?
Adrian Evans
Yeah Ill probably take cash, but Ill encourage them to give a big round number, so they have credit for the next time
Matthew Harris
Is 50k really enough? You probably would need more money as a reserve no? Also that's little caprice.

Thats not even close to enough, the location alone probably costs more

I live in a college town, so commercial land is fairly cheap. Like most of middle America there is a 'main street' that's in driving distance but the retail there has more or less gone away. Recently a guitar shop and a comic shop opened there, so I think it'd be a prime location. I just need to cover getting gas and having the fire suppressant installed. The actual furniture in a subway is fairly cheap

Can't find the sauce video but search pornhub for Little Caprice

What you require is that people order their breakfast the day before they want it yeah? So you know how many orders to ask the bakery for the previous day? That would not work at all in my country. No one has the foresight to say they want breakfast delivered for the next day, they all want it right now or not at all. Maybe the swiss are more organised...
Jack Lopez
Valid point. However if you know that you will order, you will make up your mind. (like room service in a hotel)
