There is a serious issue with the internet generation and self diagnosis. This is the same issue with all those tumblr whores self diagnosing as BPD/agoraphobic/OCD, the reality is you look at a checklist and think you understand what is meant by the terms used. But the reality is qualified experts with years of experience understand that the checklist is more like a mnemonic for them to remember entire textbooks worth of criteria evaluating severity, context, outliers etc. True diagnostic isnt just about ticking boxes its also about excluding all other possible explanations via thorough investigation.
I am highly skeptical a genuine psychopath would browse Veeky Forums, sociopaths maybe. For example, this is not true of all cases obviously, but one of my friends is a textbook psychopath. He functions like a highly efficient machine, in other words he only spends time doing things that directly further his goals. For him the act of simply “relaxing” is almost excruciatingly boring, he needs to be observing or manipulating people because they are the only form of stimulation that satisfies him. So he soends all his time grooming himself, socialising, pushing himself to be more charismatic or funny or in control of situations. If he meets a woman and he fails to attract her he hecomes extremely infuriated with himself so will spend the next 3 weeks obsessively flirting with women to improve his “game”, then you begin to get a better understanding of the big picture. For psychopaths life is basically a video game, everything is about having fun and scoring points via manipulation. Psychopaths tend to be extremely charismatic and successful for these reasons.

Nah, it depends, some people do make a distinction. You have to keep in mind that the lines of all personality disorders and other mental illnesses are often blurry and they're just names we assigned to given sets of characteristics, so it's debatable if psychopathy and sociopathy really need to be seen as different things, but the fact is that they still often are.

People are confusing being a rational person with being a psychopath or sociopath.
Being rational and making the objective best choices for your personal gain is NOT psychopathy. It's just being a high IQ individual.
Choosing objectively better results over subjective morality is almost always the better choice.
Intelligent people try to balance social points with personal gain. If you disregard morals in the short term for short term gains you will risk losing out on long term (social) profit.
Therefor choosing to show empathy sometimes results in better PERSONAL gains in the long run.

Psychopaths have dark spots on their brains within MRI that would normally lit up within normal people.
Similar to what autistic people show in MRI scans. You can recognize a psychopath and autist simply by looking at a brain scan and not knowing the person itself.
Therefor it's a real and verifiable condition. Although it's not clear where the line between autist and psychopath really falls as both have to do with a mismatch in empathy. It's very possible that in the future psychopathy will be classified as a form of autism.
