3. Empty can of steak (or whatever ) onto base
4. Apply crust
5. Bake

Thickness of pastry, filling too wet, bottom undercooked. On a sausage roll you can flip it till it's cooked but pie is all guess work. It's the reason they memed it on British Bake Off

What I do is sometimes get a tin of soup, heat it up, poach an egg in it, serve that with a pork pie sausage roll.
