So there are people that literally just come to Veeky Forums to use Veeky Forums?

So there are people that literally just come to Veeky Forums to use Veeky Forums?

Veeky Forums is my main board, and I hop to /r9k/ and /b/ to look at hot girls when it's slow.

started on /b/ 13 years ago and pretty much use Veeky Forums exclusively now

here, mostly use reddit tbqh

This is incredible to me. Do you mind if I ask how old both of you are?

So you love to read serious literature, but also enjoy simple Veeky Forums memes?

And /mu/, yes.

I love memes and Veeky Forums culture and shit but it's honestly too normie now at risk of sounding trite. I just love books a lot more than the vast majority of people here so I stick with the Veeky Forums board.

Veeky Forums has better memes for sure, but dicussion here can be stymied through anonymity in frustrating ways (much like reddit's upvote system filters out people that disagree, Veeky Forums is overrun with people that complain about EVERYTHING) i don't want a hugbox, but i also want to actually be able to talk about women writers too.

My favorite is modernist poetry, but that seems to be changing.

Friendly reminder that these are the people who get triggered and tell youj to back to boards like /pol/, /sp/ and /tv/, while they actively browse /b/

Yeah, I solely use Veeky Forums.

I visit Veeky Forums almost exclusively after migrating from /mu/ last year

Cancer.

Me

Veeky Forums is fucking shit enough as it is

Veeky Forums is my home board
i browse other boards off and on.
i barely use any other websites.

So are there really no better literature sites on the internet? I use /mu/ and have noticed that it actually is one of the better music discussion boards on the internet. Is it the same here with Veeky Forums?

Started on Veeky Forums, moved to Veeky Forums, then /v/. I'm probably just a shitposter

this is what i was talking about. this shit doesn't "add to the charm" or anything, it's just dumb and in high doses can mess up otherwise good threads just so this guy can giggle and say "hoowee boy howdy I sure did derail that thread"

I started there, but the only thing that helped me find music, was the chart threads (but they were so much work)

What other websites do you use?

That seems pretty interesting. Are you a literature major? Do you have a job that deals with a lot of literature?

r/literature feels a bit like homework and places like goodreads or rym don't really foster conversation.

this x10

>So are there really no better literature sites on the internet?

Plenty of good sites, but no discussion boards. Veeky Forums is 99% garbage but occasionally there's a good thread.

See this whole separate culture on the same website I visit every day is fascinating to me. You may consider yourself as someone who barley knows anything about literature and shitposts, but compared to me you probably know infinitely more about literature.

>this is what i was talking about. this shit doesn't "add to the charm" or anything, it's just dumb and in high doses can mess up otherwise good threads just so this guy can giggle and say "hoowee boy howdy I sure did derail that thread"

Why don't you go back to Rebbit, faggot?

>babby can't handle the banter

>having a "home" board

Enjoy being perpetually dissatisfied.

Really, there are no other good discussion boards? That seems strange that Veeky Forums would be a good site for this community when it generally has a much younger audience.

>am i a lit major
yeah, that and interactive design (yes i want to make artsy videogames)
>job
fry cook rn boy-o but I hope to teach eventually
was the question for me too?

I sometimes go on /tv/ to see all the porn spam, since that's quite funny, but other than the only place I actually post on is Veeky Forums.

I'm 22 and I feel way too old for other boards. I know this comes off as pretentious, but I just don't find the humour funny anymore. /int/ was hilarious to me at first, but now I realise that it's just about posting the most moronic thing possible in an attempt to get (You)'s

I personally don't have one, but I knew some people did do that with other boards. It really shocked me when it dawned on me that people might use Veeky Forums as their home board.

No sorry I was replying to the other comment and went to go reply to yours, but the auto poster wasn't finished yet so it put your post in the comment box.

So you don't enjoy the Veeky Forums culture at all anymore, but still use the website for Veeky Forums? Is there really that much less of the site's humor on Veeky Forums?

Pretty much.
I mostly browse Veeky Forums, Veeky Forums and /mu/

I went over to /b/ for the first time in years last week. I forgot its pretty much just porn with shitposting as filler

>Reddit ad-bot

Please flag these kinds of posts, lads.

Why does it shock you?

How long have you used Veeky Forums for?

It just seems like serious literature discussion and Veeky Forums do not go hand in hand, but people who actually enjoy literature do enjoy the shitposting and anonymous posting of Veeky Forums.

>le no your reddit xDD

Look, kid. It's obvious you're upset. If you don't like it here, then you don't have to stay. Just scroll your mouse to the address bar and type in "Reddit.com." It's that simple, really.

...

Probably about 8 years now

Thanks, senpai. I actually just have a couple of drastically different hobbies that keep me from throwing the rope over the rafters in my day to day life.

What are your other hobbies?

What did your timeline of Veeky Forums look like? When did you start using Veeky Forums as your primary website?

>serious literature discussion
>Veeky Forums
I don't enjoy the shitposting. It tires me.

It may not seem like serious literature discussion, but compared to most of the rest of the internet Veeky Forums is very well read.

I use Veeky Forums almost exclusively, but I think the place where the advantage of being part of Veeky Forums shows the most not in the discussion threads but when bad writing gets spoofed. The emphasis on shitposting, quality trolling, and running memes comes together with a community that actually does have some mastery over English for occasionally very satisfying passages.

I understand this. With any hobby I guess there is always a part of each community that wants to parody their hobby and "meme" it.

the flash horror stories were great
>1,2,3,4 but i lost count after one hundred werewolves!

>being this delusional

you're the worst

i think a lot of us just want to shoot the shit with other (somewhat) like-minded people, and enjoy the vague pretext of 'literature' governing our interactions. Something about trap threads on r9k doesn't quite inspire me to post.

This is the only place where I communicate with others online, and its nice to be able to freely walk in and out of a discussion. Theres no social pressure, you aren't going to be ignored just because you're a newcomer, theres no reputational costs, etc. It's great. I used to be a big forum user in the '00s but every thread turned into a circlejerk between a few of the earliest posters endlessly chainquoting one another, and your identity followed you into every thread. It wasn't so bad back when you could just leave a forum, but now doxxing is so easy to do even with relatively little personal information that having a profile anywhere subjects you to some serious risks.

Veeky Forums is the closest thing to pre-fb forum culture anymore, and so it feels like home to me. This is the only place where I can relax and just speak freely about certain things; I'm even at liberty to reveal personal details from time to time because there is no paper trail. It's not always about serious discussions, it's about having a space to exist honestly online. It's incredible to be express myself sincerely when I'm so repressed in the course of my day-to-day life.

Veeky Forums might be the ultimate manifestation of man's unsocial sociability.

Well, aside from writing genre-fiction-ish poetry, reading the historical fiction, and playing vidya, I enjoy mathematics as well as computer science (which I'm nearing the end of my undergrad in). I play golf with my father and uncles as well as take care of two dogs and a cat. I also occasionally watch an episode or two of sienen anime about once a month

>sienen anime
o god
u also spelled it wrong

'i' before 'e' is a bullshit rule I suppose

I post on Veeky Forums a lot, but /co/ is my real home board. It's still one of the most sincere boards on Veeky Forums, which is probably why /pol/ hates it and slanders it.

Honest to God, I hate /pol/. I'd love to face off with the /pol/tards and just empty automatic gunfire into them. Kill every last one of them. Fuck /pol/.

same

I began with /v/. But that place is so terrible now holy shit. Came across Veeky Forums like 7 months ago when some memesters on /v/ told me to read Infinite Jest, and I did.

Can pseuds like you fuck off so I can actually talk about literature with people? Thanks.

this

>all these faggots using Veeky Forums as their personal blog when i just want to talk about books and don't give a shit about your college problems

Veeky Forums is my main and what got me started on Veeky Forums.

but usually I also check out /r9k/ for the lulz and /pol/ to get redpilled.
If Veeky Forums is shit I'll go to Veeky Forums sometimes.
Rarely I'll check up on /k/ and /x/.

you both need to go back to r/eddit immediately

Forgot to add, I generally don't go to /b/ because I don't really want to see pictures of severely mutilated genitalia over and over again.
Can anyone explain what /b/ is actually for?

>8827162
doesn't deserve a (you)

get off this board lad

@8827423
there, I just gave him a (You) on your behalf. You're both welcome.

WITNESSED

im not in college, ive already graduated.

honestly blowing the fuck out your presumptive pseudo-intellectual ass like that was really refreshing. im sure you'd love to respond to this with some butthurt rant but don't forget about your own maxim of "no blogposting"

At least they know how to keep /b/ in /b/.

I crossboard all the time but I usually lurk in Veeky Forums since I don't have much to contribute

Veeky Forums is my main board and I've been on Veeky Forums for like ten years. I think my main boards way, way back (6+ years) were /v/ and Veeky Forums. After that it was /r9k/ and Veeky Forums, then /pol/ (but never /new/).

Now I mostly come here for Veeky Forums, but I'll check /pol/ once or twice a day to see if anything fun is happening.

To add some more:

There are smart people here, and it's slow-moving enough that shitposting is done semi-artfully sometimes. The only other board with bizarrely self-aware shitposting that I've found is /tv/, which is fun to browse even if you don't like TV or movies because of how thoughtful people are about posting awful garbage to make each other laugh.

It's the same kind of vibe as FYAD on old SomethingAwful, I think. There's this balance you have to strike, between, say, /v/ on the one hand, where the memeshit is mostly unreflective and people are just going with the flow, and on the other hand, /r/literature, where people are trying way too hard and taking it too seriously, and there are too many constraints (fear of getting banned, of offending normies, etc.).

Veeky Forums has a nice balance between retard "lad culture" and seriousness/intelligence. The seriousposting is irreverent, and the shitposting is polished.

>Thinking a rule that is already bullshit in English would apply to another language (Japanese)

Boring and outdated generalization
Haven't touched /b/ since high school and I'll still happily send anyone straight back to /pol/ if they're shitting up this board

i'm gonna need you to get back to r/books RIGHTNOW

Good post

Since Veeky Forums died a little while ago, Veeky Forums is one of 2 good boards on the entire site

Yeah but if /tv/ was Veeky Forums it would mostly talk about Stephen King and John Green.

I on the regular browse
a
v
sci
lit
tg
int
his
less often I take a look at
k
ck
biz
an
wsg

also h, e and d for porn

Veeky Forums and Veeky Forums, yes.

Veeky Forums is my main board, started out with /a/ and /mu/ 7 years ago but gradually changed to Veeky Forums.

>I use /mu/ and have noticed that it actually is one of the better music discussion
Kek it's filled with dilettantic teenagers with extremely limited listening preferences. If you've been listening to music for more than a year then you're doing yourself a disservice by browsing /mu/.

/sharethreads/ are actually still decent. Sometimes there's cancer, but its usually just a few posts.

Veeky Forums is my main board.
I also browse /mu/ and /trv/, sometimes Veeky Forums aswell when I am really bored.

Out of all these /trv/ is by far the best board, but it's painfully slow.

Yeah, occasionally I still pop over to /co/ and once in awhile I get back into /mu/ or /TV/ for a bit but yeah I'm only really here for Veeky Forums for the last few years.

lit fit and sci
Patrician af

/pol/ hates /co/ because /co/ is full of literal SJWs and their mods are totalitarian. Maybe if you can't deal with people who disagree with you you aren't as tolerant as you think you are.

Why did Veeky Forums die?

I use Veeky Forums, /pol/ and sometimes, rarely Veeky Forums and Veeky Forums

I use Veeky Forums 90% of the time and /b/ for 10% insanity. Despite what dozens of anons have accused me of, I've never bothered visiting /pol/, r9k/ reddit, etc.

I use Veeky Forums, /pol/ and sometimes, rarely Veeky Forums and Veeky Forums

>/sharethreads/ are actually still decent
I agree, /mu/ is 95% garbage otherwise though.

/b/ used to be the cultural center and gathering place of Veeky Forums. It had its own distinct culture and sometimes did really funny things like raids and shit.

The magic kind of died around 2014 or so when political shit made users move to either /pol/ or /r9k/, fragmenting the user base.

Does it feel completely surreal to anyone that people don't browse /pol/ on 8 or Veeky Forums? They actually come here just for the other boards. It's insane to me there are people who haven't woken up yet, whenever I see >back to /pol/ lol I just cringe internally.

let me correct you

/mu/ is 99,9% shit

Veeky Forums is my home board, I also go to /r9k/, /pol/ and sometimes /mu/.

/pol/ is a perfect example of 100% shit

very rare in nature

The most patrician board is /x/. Period.

/pol/ is mostly hyperbolic shitposting and schizophrenics but it amazes me that we have so many CNN-watching libcucks on Veeky Forums. Especially when they think they're intelligent for listening and believing.

>/pol/ is mostly hyperbolic shitposting and schizophrenics
this

I think the worst part about /mu/ is that even the shitposting and memes, which is like the pus that remains when all cultural value has died out, is juvenile. Take /tv/ for example, it's garbage for discussing film but funny to some extent, /mu/ however is just spongebob posting by facebook dwelling 16 year olds so it's garbage in every aspect.
