What is the most Veeky Forums antidepressant? ie one that won't ruin my motivation, thinking skills, and creativity

what is the most Veeky Forums antidepressant? ie one that won't ruin my motivation, thinking skills, and creativity.

i've basically lost all of these to depression and i'm hoping that an antidepressant will help me recover but i haven't heard very good things.

They work differently for everyone, so your question is impossible to answer. I believe they do work, but you have to try out a bunch until you find the right one. Also, combine it with therapy.

I just started taking paroxetine after almost two months of not being able to read and write due to depression, constant anxiety and panic attacks. For now I feel sleepy and exhausted all the time, but it takes some time to kick in. Actually today is the first day that I feel a little better.

user, find a good psychiatrist and go talk to him. Meds alone won't change you, but they can help. People who shit on ssri are often those who tried prozac and dropped it after a month. Learn how they work and don't hope taking them will make you happy and fulfilled on the spot.

Jew pills don't do anything. It's entirely placebo.
This guy has never been depressed. I can tell just from his post.

Ketamine once a forthnight, microdoses of LSD p.r.n. to cure acedia.

This is bullshit. Some of them have been shown to induce epigenetic changes. This is why they're fucking dangerous. It's a very, very crude tool for a very delicate task.

>what is the most Veeky Forums antidepressant?
suicide

>ie one that won't ruin my motivation, thinking skills, and creativity.
there is no such thing

Sertraline (Zoloft/etc) fucked me up.

If you want I'll explain how.

This poster is deluded, don't listen to him. Trust your doctor over random strangers on the internet that "just know" things. If you haven't talked to a doctor yet, do so.

Like said you're going to have to try different medicine until you find one that works, everyone reacts to them a bit differently. You'll also have to put some effort into therapy alongside that. It's the combination of both therapy and medicine that will really make you better. Keep in mind that it will be a long road. There's no magic, instant solution.

please explain

Uncucking yourself via contemporary philosophy. Depression is a social phenomenon, it's symptoms manifest in the individual.

Total sobriety and/or becoming a Catholic priest.

I went from a manic state (extreme highs/lows) to a sort of deadening zombie-like neutrality. This was in many ways worse.

I also experienced considerable weight gain and it's pretty much killed my dick. At the very least I have erectile dysfunction now.

Since coming off it 2-3 years ago I've lost the weight at least. I'm also "back to normal" now - but if someone asked me what I thought of antidepressants, I wouldn't recommend them. Or rather, I at least wouldn't recommend the stuff I was on.

this is an extremely good post

also, use a mood tracking app daily or a spreadsheet in which you rate your levels of exhaustion, feelings of hopelessness, suicidal ideation, or whatever regularly -- it's important to have data to look back on if you're further into the process and need to change your dosage or your medication

t.
been on every anti depressant under the sun, did experimental treatment at johns hopkins, nothing worked until I found a good psychiatrist and worked out a good regimen

good luck

I really thought The Importance of Being Earnist was funny as hell.

Or Three Men in a Boat, also hilarious

I used ketamine around once a week for depression for a while with very good results

I got the idea from a flyer looking for paid tests subjects for an NIH study, called them up, they told me they'd be administering I believe 30mg intramuscularly every week

having your neurology become so frazzled by random swings of emotion that you cant feel things anymore

>this is an extremely good post
THIS. This is what we need more of, anons. More positive energy! I'm upvoting this :-))

(OP)
don't take the blue pill
if you choose to take the blue pill, you will end up on reddit
you have been warned

Comfy books are the most Veeky Forums antidepressant, obviously.

The dream of a man ridiculous by dosto will blow a hole in your nihilistic tendencies.

Go for a run 4-5 times a week
Spend less time with screens (computers, phones, televisions)
Meditate at least five minutes every day (zazen)
Cook all your meals
No alcohol

These days, so many people just give up when they're depressed. They look to pills for an easy temporary way out. It can be overcome, but the path requires a great deal of effort. Though the fruits will make you more life-affirming than ever before

Paroxetine I don't think is too bad, but many of these drugs can have some really nasty side effects (paroxetine has similar side effects, like bone marrow failure, tho that's quite rare).

I had to go through the whole "diagnosis by medication" route (it was thought I had epilepsy or narcolepsy or something like that), and it was hell. If you go through it on anti-depressants make sure you have a strong social network around you. You're a suicide risk.

exercise (don't do heavy lifting though, that drains your mental energy)
stillness
work
creating shit (writing, drawing, carpentry etc)
stimulants
friends
gf

>don't do heavy lifting though
Bad advice.

nah it's good advice if you want your creative juices or want to be interesting in any capacity.

contact your local catholic church and begin your journey into facing the absurd and becoming enlightened with the holy spirit

Bupropion and Citalopram are nice but they had to be combined with something for me.

Same story with Lamotrigine.

Seroquel was awful and made me gain weight.

Lexapro has bad side effects and withdrawals but it works so well. I don't even think the other pills I take matter, Lexapro controls my mood so much.

>heavy lifting makes you stupid
Is this true?

Unless you're a minimally acclaimed artist that also got past a beginner's program, there isn't even an anecdotal basis for your claim.

It encourages neurogenesis, so no.

What on earth does anecdotal evidence have to do with the scientifically proven mental benefits of exercise?

It has to do with a claim arguing against them. No point neglecting lifting heavy stuff up and down.

never said it makes you stupid.
just fucks with your creativity.
>caring about acclaim
if your endgame is other people worshipping you then you should either go full careerist "artist" or just pursue an entirely different field in which case yea lift all you want.
there's plenty of evidence, name me 5 people worth anything who actively lifted heavy weights.
hemingway/mishima don't count, they were shit/faggots and also offed themselves.

Most doctors are fucking hacks.
You're better off these days finding a forum dedicated to your specific medical condition and learn from guys who have lived it, tried everything and found what works. Rather than some bottom of the barrel at medical school 100k a year GP.

I was suffering low testosterone due to prior steroid use and no idiot doctor was interested enough to help me, despite I was near suicidal with depression because of it. They all just wanted to give me anti depressants.

I found online TRT forums where a huge community of guys had taken to self prescribing and experimenting, ordering their own drugs online and helping each other out with dosing protocols etc.
With their help I was able to reset my hormonal axis and cure myself, thank fuck.
The general consensus on these forums is that doctors are useless - most of the time you have to talk them through what they need to do for you and why (e.g guys having to demand specific blood tests in order to self diagnose,so they can then go and order drugs on the black market) just pretending to include the doctor in the decision making.

The same goes for depression. Most doctors have no idea. They just throw extremely dangerous, life altering drugs at teenagers who are going through a bit of puberty blues. I had a coworker who had been on anti depressants since 13, and tried to come off at 25. He went through a terrible withdrawal period where he said he wanted to die every day for a month. After that he has never been right- he went in to a permanent, but functional depression (as in he could hold down a job.) His brain has been utterly destroyed by careless doctors. His reward system- the foundation of motivation, pleasure and a million other things- totally fried.

Fuck doctors. The only useful ones are the specialzed, dedicated ones saving lives in an ER or the rare, competent specialist out there who knows exactly what theyre doing and why.

Oh and 100+million men being systematically circumcised (sexually mutilated) over the past century should tell a thinking man all he needs to know about the (((American medical establishment)))

If you recall the point was about creative juices and being interesting. To then go
>caring about what other people think
Is a little retarded if you want to also advocate being>name me 5 people worth anything who actively lifted heavy weights.
"""""interesting"""""

because the most creative and interesting artists are the ones who really care about what people think. nice projection though.
nice cop-out too.

I agree with this post. This approach got me over my really bad anxiety.

I also taught myself CBT

So does smoking weed, but dopeheads are still retards.

The mind is more complex than

>HURR, more neurons = more smart.

>gf

none of this has anything to do with the medications themselves, you retard. just because americans treat medicine like a consumer product doesn't mean the pills are "le jewish tricks xDDD". the rest of the world uses them too, you know

>trying to argue with anecdotal evidence
why would anyone listen to you at this point? you've pretty much blow any scientific credibility you might have had in arguing about the mental benefits of lifting.

next, please

>just because americans treat medicine like a consumer product doesn't mean the pills are "le jewish tricks xDDD"
What? No, that's exactly what it means, at least in jest, when you say that the big pharma is being led by the Jews.

Not to mention that America is in charge of the DSM. The European system is just a passive response to whatever the next DSM said, and gee oh I wonder why that's so, maybe because the big pharma in the US (c)overtly funds most of the studies done in the domain of psychopharmacology, and of course they're not going to conduct those studies in Belarus.

love

People respond differently to different ssris. Zoloft works well for me, just makes it harder to cum as the only side effect but it's not even that bad

Somewhat relevant to this thread. I just got kicked out of Waterstones near Goodge Street in London. I was on the third floor where they keep philosophy books and I saw David Foster Wallace's "Both Flesh And Not" amongst the works of Kant, Leibniz and others. It sickened me and I removed it and walked down to fiction general and slotted it in at random. A staff worker, some myopic pozzed out normie confronts me and says excuse me sir did you just return this to the wrong section? I explained that someone had made a mistake in placing a pop-"""philosopher""" among actual philosophers. He said umm yeah we don't allow customers to move books around. I was so angry anyway and I ended up taking the book back up to the third floor and clearing half a shelf of books and placing Wallace's book there cover-forward. Some people came and saw what I was doing but didn't understand but that same staff member arrived and called his line manager who then asked me to leave and threatened to call security if I didn't. I don't even know if they have security there anyway. On the way out I passed this smug faggot who looked life Jonathan Safran Foer who stared at me all the way down the stairs while he stood at the bottom. Fuck the literary world.

DFW looks fresh as fuck in this pic

An extremely important part of it is whether or not your specific body chemistry interacts well with the particular antidepressent. I was on zoloft and prozac for years and they didn't do anything, and then I got genetic testing done and it turned out my body does not metabolize SSRIs, which zoloft and prozac are, correctly. I am now on an SNRI which has been working pretty well.

>I don't even know if they have security there anyway.
It's like barely a street away from one of the biggest pickpocketting hotspots in London, so yeah believe they have security there.

Also that place is the bomb,

dont take anti-depressant pills

they will fuck you up

just go to Church or go see some nature, a change of scenery or routine
