"I'm so poor I only have $5 a day for food"

>"I'm so poor I only have $5 a day for food"
>"I'm fat because the only way to get two full meals a day at $5 is McDonald's"

I don't get it.

If you can get an excess of calories for $5, then spend less and get less calories and lose fucking weight. $5 = 2000 calories, $2 = 800 calories. And you have $3 leftover for the whole day. Every three days you can have a salad. Go you!

Poor people have no excuse for being fat.

wow you're so smart

When you're poor, though, it's tough to really make super rational decisions. I mean, if you're poor and struggling, you want SOME good things in your life, and many people will look to tasty, filling food. It can seem daunting, when most healthy food like fresh produce and meats seem way more expensive than fast food or microwavable food.

I know that sounds like an excuse, but I feel like it's just reality. When you're poor and you life sucks, you're not going to want to eat boring ass salad.

In reality, US food stamp programs now give single people with disabilities 64.5 cents per day for food.

And 1000 calories costs $6-7 if you buy piss poor people's chemical slur.

You have points but you gotta ask the poor americans first. I don't have kids. I'm single. I can't work. I eat a total of $240 a year in food, the amount you spend in one week.
You have to level with us. Obama cut people by 90% in an obvious ploy to starve and kill americans. It's working.

This 100% I work 10 hour shifts, I'm on the night shift right now. I eat outside once every few days because it's one of the few things I really enjoy. Some days I starve myself the whole day and go to some restaurant at the end of the day and order 2 or main courses

I don't have any time to cook and all I have at my apartment is dried nuts, some instant meals, ramen, condiments, and things like that.

Of course, it's not going to be like this always. I'm going to move on to better things

>I don't get it.
You got that right.

If they weren't reatarded they wouldn't be poor.

This desu. Poor people are disgusting. They're like another species. Every time I see one I just shudder like holy shit imagine being poor and just doing minimum wage cuck work your whole life life

What should they do instead? Can't work a better job without education, can't get education without a loan, can't get a loan without a certain income level or credit score.

The mass majority of the population can't grasp that eating more calories than you use daily causes weight gain. I don't blame them either, we weren't taught it in school or anything.

Things like construction, HVAC etc. are all full of brown people making decent wages with no education.

Treating yourself to main course restauarant food sounds nice, user. Perhaps you should at least eat a hearty breakfast on those fasting days though.

They could even suck it up for a day, not eat, drink tap water, and they'd have $10. Then go buy a big bag of chicken breasts from Aldi for $8.

>I mean, if you're poor and struggling, you want SOME good things in your life
Then they should run. Not only is it free, it's healthy too.

Isn't it much cheaper to just buy beans and rice as basics and add cheap vegetables (or farm/pluck them if you are able to)

try to buy a ricecooker
you can just make the rice whenever and eat it later on
put on some sauce or veggies
this meal will take bout 10 mins to prepare

>Poor people are disgusting
you got that wrong
it's
>dumb people are disgusting

Same thing

No it's not.

Many intellectuals come from pisspoor families
Many artists never had much money and were only recognized after death
Many inventors never had money
Many philosophers were poor
and so on and so on
it's
>dumb people are disgusting

What veggies go good with rice?

And sauces besides obv soy.

And yet it is completely possible to establish a ststisticsl proof that links upper class wealth and members of academia, intelligentsia and renowned artists. It is not as if the poor were any lesser for it, but rather, to show that there are societal forces that perpentrate and recreate the current class structure. Social mobility, for the most part, is not more than a myth.

>Social mobility, for the most part, is not more than a myth.

Someone sounds black.

While a lot of it is this, it's also the media.
You can't go anywhere or do anything without being blasted from all directions with all the fatty, salty, tasty things you could buy on the brand new 2-dollar menu or whatever.

I gave up network TV and have adblock on my browser, but I still see fucking cheeseburgers on billboards on my daily commute. I even hear ads for Coca-Cola on the radio. Fucking Coke on the radio.

No one advertises veggies except Michelle Obama, and who the fuck wants to do what she says?

broccoli, carrot, peas, eggplant, celery

beans and nuts aren't vegetables but the texture pairs very well with rice and they're full of energy (just be sure to roast nuts in a pan so they'll soak up sauce and become softer)

as for sauces just about anything you like
worcestershire, hot sauce, teriyaki, lime juice
mix peanut butter with soy sauce for a delicious sauce
any kind of broth, the rice will drink it right up
don't be afraid to go sweet, either. Butter and sugar, add some cinnamon, fruit sauces - anything you might put in oatmeal or on cereal will go just fine in rice.

I wasn't talking about social mobility socialist fag.

I was talking about poor, intelligent people wich aren't disgusting at all. And I was talking about disgusting, dumb people of all social classes.

>5$/day for food
>poor

5$/day would feed a family of four in times of need, for fuck's sake.

>poor
>so I can only eat at McDonald's

I really don't get this, how is it that people really think McDonald's is cheaper than cooking for yourself?

>how is it that people really think McDonald's is cheaper than cooking for yourself?
because they are fucking stupid

How do we get "poor" ppl to "better" themselves? Especially if they don't think they need to change?

Let's just assume they are poor on drugs, drink and are ethnic.

strict laws concerning chemicals and additives in food
cheap ecological food and meals
educate them about health
let opinion leaders promote healthy food
healthy cookingclasses in schools
quality meals in schools

> And 1000 calories costs $6-7 if you buy piss poor people's chemical slur.

A 10 lb bag of potatoes is $2-3 and that's 3470 calories..

Eugenics.

>drugs, drink

It's impossible. Short of forcing them, addicts will always satisfy their addictions before they think about helping themselves.

But limiting food stamps to non-junk food would be a start. No chips or soda on the taxpayer dime.
Tax fast food to drive up their prices.
Reduce or eliminate the corn subsidy so there's less incentive to stuff HFCS in everything. Subsidize vegetable growers instead.
and everything said

You sound like a good community leader.

But the stuff you said hit the elderly and children in elementary school. What about the bulk of them?

Thank you!
this is the best compliment I've got in a while
have a veggiepic in return
some of my suggestions like
strict laws concerning chemicals and additives in food
cheap ecological food and meals
are for everyone
if it's about america: you need to reform the fda since this institution works in favour of big financial groups and ignore the consumer

>ignore the consumer
ignores the consumers

What's junk food? Orange juice is loaded with sugar, would it be banned for stamp users? How much sugar is bannable?

French fries are just cut up potatoes, a vegetable, are those bad?

The food stamp program isn't a health program, its a feeding program to prevent hunger.

I'm not the one you linked and I don't know much about foodstamps
those foods/drinks you named are not great but it's a lot harder to become superfat if you remove crap like modified cornsyrup, msg, hydrolated soy.. from the diet

Junk food would be limited to processed foods, certainly.
Things like french fries are a borderline case you couldn't easily restrict, but buying them at the store and cooking them yourself is already loads better from a health perspective than getting them from a burger joint.

Hunger is malnutrition
Eating the wrong things too much will give you malnutrition just as soon as eating too little.
Therefore food stamps should be aimed at correcting both problems.

5 AUD can get you 12 eggs. Another bit of pocket change can get you some broccoli, asparagus and rice. Healthy as fuck.

60 dollarydoos a week will get you everything you need to make a good and interesting meal every night. Or 6 maccas meals.

Obesity, MSG and Rats

huffingtonpost.com/beverley-golden/obesity-msg-and-rats_b_842332.html

While I do think MSG is overused and understudied, Huffington Post is fake news. Please don't link it in serious discussions from now on.

there are enough highly scientific articles about it
I just thought this was easier to read
the content of this article is definitely not fake news

It's pure laziness, the same that probably got them into the situation.

I mean I've been thirsty and starving, and running on 3 hours sleep a night with 2 days worth of physical work a day, and if I had the opportunity to cook a good meal I would have shat my pants in excitement. Instead I had processed meat pack from my rations and dried out a cigarette paper while I was cooking it. Bliss to finally be in the wet sleeping bag for a while.

I'm not trying to play up my experiences in any way for sympathy or thanks or any shit, I just think the majority of people who are poor and struggling in rich countries are out of touch with reality, shown when they post about it from their smartphones and laptops and eat their maccas in front of their big ass tv.

If your soldiers do that imagine what people on the other side do. Don't ask.

sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/08/080813164638.htm

Msg sucks. I thought since they say its so unhealthy it would taste good like all other unhealthy thing they say is bad.

>Our results show that some neurons in culture survive brief exposure to both glutamate and MSG though spikes and bursts of neurons decrease over time when exposed to a range of concentrations of MSG treatment and typically lead to cell degradation and death.

Source:fasebj.org/content/29/1_Supplement/903.11.short

msg, like aspartame (nutrasweet) dumbs you down and makes obese
there are a lot of chemicals like that in our food

So maybe its the food companies fault that people are acting poor in the first place.

Maybe they aren't to blame?

poor people are lazy and stupid
they wont buy rice and potatoes with the little money they have
they'd rather buy booze and fast food

it's more than that
people are lazy idiotic retards
proper tagging is rare
there are not enough inspections
food companies have the fda and other institutions for food regulation at their bidding
food companies use the worst, cheapest kind of shit and put it in the products

Well they are going to be poor either way so what would you do?

Extend your poor life with healthy food and not have the only luxuries you can afford in your sad life? Or have a few cheeseburgers and a few beers to distract you from your sad life if only for a few moments? It shortens your sad life? Is that so bad?

It's a fucking miracle that I live and breath, I'm going to eat healthy to extend my existence on this ball of lava and dirt.

>luxuries
shit food is poison not luxuries

If you're not smart or organized enough to know how to cook and manage calories, that's probably why you're poor.

I calculated yesterday I can make a 900 calorie loaf of artisan bread for $0.19. And that's not even buying flour in bulk. And it's fucking delicious.

The legit poor people I've known (including myself) have almost always been underweight instead of overweight.

How about stop being poor

>not just letting the market take care of all of our problems
Fucking cuck

This, once you get into running the opiates released will help a lot.

I spend a hundred dollars and I have enough nutritious food for a couple of months. Every meal takes about as long as fast food. There really is no excuse. I have two full time jobs and I have the time to cook and clean. Nothing but laziness

>5$ = 2000 calories
fuckken how

This absolutely, up until recently my entire family has been poor, none of us have been even close to overweight, and I've only been at the proper BMI for the last six months. "Poor people" who are overweight are only overweight because they waste their money on frivolous spending, i.e.: expensive appliances, the newest electronics, overpriced snack foods, sodas, etc. If you're poor and you spend your money the right way there's no reason to be obese other than sheer laziness.

>I spend a hundred dollars and I have enough nutritious food for a couple of months.
can you teach me? please

kek

Rice and beans nigga.

Eggs oats bananas and milk will get you far desu. Make a quiche on the weekend and eat it through the week. oatmeal with milk and bananas and a dash of cinnamon is the bomb very quick to make two min prep and 1 min microwave is the same time as ramen. This and protein shakes is how i got in shape

It's not hard. Buy bulk and save the rest for fresh vegetables and other basic perishables.

>>"I'm fat because the only way to get two full meals a day at $5 is McDonald's"

Fun Fact: Contrary to the poverty = obesity myth, American Blacks actually gain weight and become more obese as they make more income.

epic redpill brah, so 2017 xD

>Contrary to the poverty = obesity myth

Nobody actually believes this. Just fucking take a look at detroit and cleveland. All those niggers look like starving crack heads.

Go to Washington DC, and all those rich niggers are 350 pounds minimum, and that's just the women.

how far do you have to commute? I work 10 hour shifts too and usually cook a nice lunch/breakfast before i head in

go to a chinese market if you can. bean sprouts are fucking delicious, and you can get some nice peppers, egg plants, lotus roots, and so on. then broccoli carrots zucchini peas onions mushrooms etc are good too. what veggies don't go good with rice? like the other user said you can't go wrong with teriyaki, you can find loads of sauces in asian markets, grab some that look good and try it.
broth rice is good, jasmine tea rice is rly good too

>Well they are going to be poor either way so what would you do?
pay off their credit card debt and set up an emergency savings? christ you don't need to jump into a new social class and buy a brand new house and car with your savings for them to matter.

youtu.be/O6SEXp3-lo8?t=20

>I'm single. I can't work. I eat a total of $240 a year
my dad lost his job and gets more than that a month in food stamps
wtf

A 5 lb bag of potatoes is $7 in Arizona, don't give me that shit. I love potatoes and if they were 2-3 for 10 lbs I would only eat potatoes.

>1000 calories costs $6-7
lmao no it doesnt

Sigh

If you truly wanted something, you would fucking smash every obstacle in your way or die trying

If you ever give up at something, you didn't want it bad enough

Get out there and literally get a job, fast food will hire if you have open availability, that's one of the starting points for those in the dumps

it's not that simple because people are excuse-making victims. Obesity is a personality flaw.

>fast food will hire if you have open availability
There's an endless supply of high school/college kids they can hire. They have no reason to train someone that will jump ship as soon as a better opportunity comes up.

>A 5 lb bag of potatoes is $7 in Arizona

holy shit lol I just got back from my local Safeway with a 5lb sack for $1.99

Would you REALLY still have that fucking goober mindset if every waking moment was poverty and suffering? Not condoning when poor people dig themselves into situations like having a ton of kids, etc. but I can assure you you'd rather be dead than live like them.

There's a ton of studies that've found morbid obesity gradually causes permanent brain damage while damage to the hypothalamus is linked to obesity. Just look at all the idiots on My 600 Lb. Life.

This is what I do. I get a shit ton of rice, red beans, hamburger (the kind that comes in a big greasy tube), a few whole chickens, meat goes in the freezer and then fresh produce as I need it, I hunt for the on sale in season stuff. Things like eggs are mad cheap and I replenish my spice rack as needed. I cheat though because both of my jobs are in kitchens so I get one or two free meals almost every day but even if I had to feed myself every meal I'd still go a while between grocery runs.

Yet at the local market they're at least half the price

GROCERY OUTLET BARGAIN MARKET.

Literally the best place to shop. I hot two rib eye steaks for a total of ten bucks for both. You can also get a four pounds of chicken thighs for less than five bucks.

Wtf a meal at the arches is like 8 bucks

I suspect you have never been EXTREMELY hungry after a hard days work doing some sort of physical job. Nobody wants to be poor and hungry, and fast food will definitely fill you up. Of there are ways to avoid getting AS fat by eating fast food (cutting out soda, not ordering fries, ect.), I doubt these poor folks care at the end of the day.

...

Yeah, I'm sure every poor person can just find a job like that

>I mean, if you're poor and struggling, you want SOME good things in your life

Absolutely. I remember when I was living on about $650 a month, I used this ghetto chinese place down the road within walking distance. I could get 10 pounds of chicken fried rice for $10. It was so fucking delicious, filling, and it lasted me about 6 full meals (with water and a few drops of lemon juice to drink). Easily over 4,000 calories a day, but it really did make those days tolerable.

Still, I managed to lose weight through that all, so I dunno.

You were lucky. There is no fast food in my town, every day is another $8-10 and only one meal.

Social Security/Disability pays out more the more you have paid into the system (in other words, worked a tax paying job). Your state's food stamp program might be similar.

Tennessee's is based on income and resources. Around the year 2000, I got $292 for myself and my son. I felt it was adequate to feed us both. Then again, milk wasn't $5 a gallon in 2000. I remember the time I called them to cancel the benefits because we were back on our feet. The woman sounded like it was the first time that had ever happened. Probably was.

>In reality, US food stamp programs now give single people with disabilities 64.5 cents per day for food.

[citation needed]

Income is 2.8k a year.

>[citation needed]

Food stamps are not a federal program. It varies from state to state, and the amount you get varies case by case.

It's not just "Oh, you're not working, here's $100" ... It's "Do you own a house? Car? List your liquid assets. Last W2 forms? Total yearly income including odd jobs and gifts. Total spent on rent/mortgage, health insurance/medical expenses, transportation. Proof you're actively searching for a job. Proof you're recieving/seeking child support from (our state won't give benefits for a child unless there's a child support case against the missing parent, which is where I come in)" There's a huge list of variables that change how much you get - if any at all - in my state. Not sure about others. I've seen amounts as low as $34 and as high as $390 (for 1 person) since I work beside the Department of Human Services here quite a bit

>I succeeded therefore everyone else can too
LMAO

I've got a great life but I don't delude myself into thinking I wasn't incredibly lucky to
>be born in a reasonably well educated educated family
>not have any significant health problems
>not have any significant catastrophes happen yet
>grow up in a reasonably well developed area with education and work opportunities
>not be black, or have a black-sounding name so I can get harassed by the cops for every petty little thing and have a criminal record by the time I'm 12 and never get called back for job applications

Also, read and learn:

phys.org/news/2012-11-poverty-people-focus-short-term.html

> have a criminal record by the time I'm 12

They have criminal record because they commit crime and cops let most crimes slide in these neighborhoods because they'd have to arrest everyone if they didn't. And anyone who's dealt with enough of them (blacks) would know why it's wise to avoid them.

Stick to your rich people shit.

Also most poor people work high labor jobs so they're too tired to be bothered to go out shopping, cooking and cleaning.

I don't think that being poor forces you to make bad decisions so much as the people with an inability to delay gratification are more likely to end up poor.

>Beans
>Rice
>Botatoes
>Corn
This is your complete protein and grains
>Multivitamins
>Rooftop garden, plant seeds for vegetables and fruits
Realistically you can eat for less than $100 dollars a year, but admittedly this takes titanium willpower and planning

I'm calling bullshit on this. I live in Hawaii where everything is expensive as fuck and a 5lb bag of potatoes is still only 5 dollars.
