>“World Peace” wasn’t just toiling in the status quo, though. Where Green was sincere goofiness and “Tim and Eric” was defined by absolute irony, Million Dollar Extreme finished the sequence by muddling the qualities of the previous two. It was post-ironic. Maybe this is trouble?
>Figuring out the intentions of the ironist is easy: whatever is being shown is being mocked. But the post-ironist folds over on his own sincerity with exaggeration, using the ironic not just to ridicule, but also to enjoy the absurdities of what he genuinely appreciates.
Noah Garcia
Show me on the doll where Veeky Forums touched you.
Lincoln Carter
This guy's marketing team is really going hard. I guess the fact that we're full of tourists from /pol/ is common knowledge now.
Wyatt Nelson
>tourists
70% of this website has /pol/ as a home board.
Brandon Wood
No. It's an example of bad writing and stupid sketches.
Zachary Brooks
>tourists As post No. 8832791 stated, Veeky Forums is twitter's landfill now, and has been since 2014.
Dylan Sanchez
you can have badly written post-irony
Is it post-ironic or not?
James Gomez
He uses post-irony as an excuse as to why his show is so bad.
Aiden Roberts
Yes, mde was a visionary. I expect what he accomplished to become the next major movement in comedy although its unlikely he'll do this through the tv screen.
I expect him to release another book soon
Jason Lewis
>lol it's just a joke... or is it ;) has to be literally the lowest form of exposition
irony is a degenerate form of exposition to begin with, trying to "innovation" on it will always result in pure garbage only appropriate for mental midgets
Dylan Price
his show was so bad it was one of the top rated shows on adult swim despite being at 12:15
>>lol it's just a joke... or is it ;) You're a literal idiot if this is what you got from the show
Jack Gonzalez
yes
Jayden Powell
confirmed for having never seen the show
David Edwards
has sam ever commented on this?
Luke Cook
>top rated I'm not talking about ratings. Any time people say his show is lame his autistic fans start screeching "YOU JUST DON'T GET IT. IT'S IRONIC AND TOO DEEP 4 U."
Adrian Gray
Tim and Eric had 5 seasons but was bizarre in a similar way
Connor Adams
deploying more innovative forms of degeneracy should worry you, this character is dangerous noting good has ever resulted from comedy
no I never watched the show I don't watch television, especially not a channel targeted towards children and teenagers irony is garbage and will literally rot your brain if you consume it
Kevin Scott
Chris Morris did it better. imo Nathan Barley predicted Sam Hyde
Daniel Nelson
I've heard he actively deletes any mention of it on the MDE reddit.
Blake Diaz
>irony is garbage but it's not irony. it's post-irony
Ryder Sullivan
San Hyde is self-aware. Barley was not
Anthony Adams
just learn to be sincere, don't engage in anything with prefixes, "post-irony" can only be garbage
Oliver Morgan
Yeah but I don't like that either. Just being ironic doesn't automatically make something funny.
Brandon Watson
>Sam Hyde is self-aware. Barley.
Aaron Taylor
>When he accurately describes Veeky Forums as that leftist who still needs to see xirself as subversive
James Gutierrez
t. doesn't watch sam
Elijah Morgan
Trump won, the democrats were nothing but neocons who cried a lot and listened to Beyoncé. There hasn't been a real left since the 60s
Brayden Rogers
This desu
Jeremiah Rodriguez
>he thinks he gets it Please give me an analysis on any of the following: Eric Hayden CEO sketch, teacher sketch, brother's wife sketch, frat party sketch
Henry Cruz
>a REAL left
HahahhahahaHAhaha exactly the type of stuff I'm talking about
>muh the REAL left is still subversive
Jackson Reed
Do you know? I'm curious as to what these meant
Alexander Gomez
t. has sam's cum in his brain
Nathaniel Moore
I have an interpretation that I may type when I get home
Brayden Price
What do you think the "real left" is?
Matthew Allen
The """workers revolution""" is never gonna happen you outdated commie fuck
Isaac Long
Well It's that or being devoured by malignant technocapital AI
Jayden King
Nathan Barley is a fictional character...
Anthony Clark
the AI will be homosexual and we will all be absorbed into the mulatto underclass
Nicholas Bennett
There is no 'real left' there is only an ideal applied to reality. I assume that poster is thinking 'wow, a real left who believe the things I believe'. Leftism is anything that trends toward egalitarianism. The REAL left, to an armchair user is going to be as egalitarian as humanly sustainable (it differs from leftist to leftist depending on how possible/sustainable they believe anarchism, communism, socialism actually is). Nevertheless that's where they tend to end up advocating social reforms in that direction. There's a dissonance between ideals and reality however and many understand that even though their highest ideals call for radical changes to the societies they live in that such a thing is unfeasible because most people don't want that much change; they aren't comfortable with it. So they take their ideal and they select what is most important, or most palatable, or most feasible. In this age and this time those things that have been selected are identity politics and political correctness. Those issues were deemed most important by the loudest on the left and they are doubling down so hard that many, many in their lifetimes, will not abandon the issue. The media and attention helped shape it into what we see now. This is their 'great fight'. The mistake is thinking that this is somehow less 'real'. It's simply how the leftist project manifests itself in this day and time within these people with their specific wants and needs. I would agree that it is a pathetic disaster, that it's actually killed any chance of success, but it's just as real as any of the other things that could have but didn't get selected by this wave of leftist.
Christian Morgan
Sam did a HydeWars episode on that.
Ryder Ramirez
Neoliberalism was not an egalitarian project, but attempt to create a fascism without hate, one that leaves exploitative capital and the profitable war machine intact. An utopia of gender diverse drone operators and multicolored banking executives, where domination is completely rationalised and logical. It doesn't work for the simple reason that fascism works better with hate.
Brandon Hughes
hi Nick
Jason Sullivan
>where domination is completely rationalized and logical
Gonna need a source on that
Cooper Green
Then why do pseudo-commies at Buzzfeed (founded by Jonah Peretti, who is an open communist) love neoliberalism so much?
Cooper Ward
>He can't imagine that Capitalists and Leftists want a completely homogeneous Human Race for very different reasons
Levi Hughes
Jonah Peretti wrote his thesis on Debord's society of the Spectacle. Debord was a communist, who wrote with the objective of promoting revolution, but he does give a great and very useful description of how the modern world works. His work is popular with media people and spooks, like Peretti or the Kremlin's Vladislav Surkov, precisely because it's useful. They are actually hard core nihilists. Surkov wrote a novel in which he talks about how he feels like he transcended ethics and only cares about the patterns, beautiful patterns re-arranging themselves for all eternity.
Noah Price
the privilege checking system is hyper rationalised protestant ethics which meshes perfectly with the hyper rationalised capitalist bureaucracy. Goldman Sachs and military contractors have instituted mandatory 'diversity workshops' precisely because it's an effective method of control and micromanagement
Daniel Diaz
and he had no self-awareness in the world of the show he was in...
Ayden Lee
No, they're an example of irony.
Julian Lopez
Something about their style reminds me a lot of '60s psychedelic/"revolutionary" stuff like The International Times.
Noah Jenkins
How are they not post-ironic?
that would fully be in line with the author's argument
Michael Howard
What's post-ironic?
Parker Nelson
Nothing because irony is not a movement, it is the softer side of nihilism.
Austin Cooper
irony is a type of expression
Ian Campbell
Yes but when people talk about irony they are talking about values.
Irony as an expression has been around forever though so calling something post-ironic is as dumb as saying "late capitalism".
Dylan Bennett
>the post-ironist folds over on his own sincerity with exaggeration, using the ironic not just to ridicule, but also to enjoy the absurdities of what he genuinely appreciates. so power metal was post-ironic all along? huh
Nolan Carter
the term just refers to a form of expression that exists as a reaction to/outgrowth of the widespread culture of irony
Oliver Mitchell
Yes it's a colloquialism created by morons who didn't even understand what irony was in the first place.
Oliver Russell
Pic related?
Nathan Russell
>capitalism has been around forever
Ayden Nelson
As long as people have exchanged stuff with each other, which is pretty much forever. Capitalism is not even a thing, but individuals voluntarily exchanging stuff and making contracts. The only way to prevent it would be through a totalitarian society
Joseph Lewis
there is examples of "post irony" in the iliad
Eli Cruz
>voluntarily exchanging stuff and making contracts Vast swathes of history where this did not happen, it may surprise you to learn.
Christian Myers
>muh spearchucking example we should all learn from
Landon Cook
this is jarringly false, look what happens what a retard from /pol/ leaves his echo chamber and enters our echo chamber
Alexander Perez
Oh wow, so like pretty much forever really is like 300 or so years for you?
Anthony Baker
i think you might be 15 years old or braindead
William Martinez
>leftists still think they're anti-establishment
Brody Rivera
We should make a poll. I am a /pol/ack as well
Zachary Bennett
>this is what redditors actually believe
Julian Collins
Objectively they are now, they weren't a few months ago but they are now, get with the times grandpa
Anthony Green
I'm pretty sure 70% of this board is just me.
Jeremiah Baker
>let me paint the left with a broad brush even though I vehemently oppose when people do it to the right
Camden Fisher
this
I'd say I'm responsible for at least 40% of the zizekposting, you guys are welcome its a full time job
Matthew Baker
the left only cares about white genocide. That's why leftists will always side with the finantial elites over the working classes, cause they believe all whites are guilty and deserve to be bred out of existence
Jordan Martinez
The US was right wing with the Democrats, although Obama was fairly left wing for a democrat. Compare it to the UK and Australia, another large former colony: US: Democrats and Republicans, which are p much the old Whigs (liberals) and Tories (religious conservatives) UK: Labour and Tories, so an actual workers' rights party and a right wing traditionalist party Aus: Labour and Liberals, work that one out from above.
Cameron Murphy
kind of funny how the alt right is the right finally having some diversity of opinion and they almost completely disintegrated because of us and then they call us "all the same" or imply it
