The first one made me chuckle.

my favorite desu

>While he never married, he had an active social life, including a friendship with Joseph Green, an English merchant.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>Now, and maybe this is just me, but if I arrive at the end of my life and a biographer is charged with defending me against accusations of being boring, I should hope that they can come up with something better than "once traveled a small distance to teach philosophy, and had one friend."

theguardian.com/world/2004/feb/12/highereducation.artsandhumanities

>He has been famously portrayed as a bore, a man whose habits were so regular that housewives could set their watches by his legendary afternoon walk.
But according to three new biographies, the celebrated German philosopher Immanuel Kant was not such a dry stick after all. Far from being a dour Prussian ascetic, the great metaphysician was a partygoer. He enjoyed drinking wine, playing billiards and wearing fine, colourful clothes.

>He had a sense of humour, and there were women in his life, although he never married. On occasion, Kant drank so much red wine he was unable to find his way home, the books claim.

>According to Kühn, whose acclaimed biography of the philosopher has just been published in Germany, Kant also had "amorous interests" in two women - though there is no evidence these were consummated.

I don't see any proof

>He had a sense of humour

Existential comics is cancer

The artist is great at banter, I'm sure he browses Veeky Forums

Don't hurt his feelings

He's probably a cancerous redditor

>probably
provably

no u

This makes me want to start reading Philosophy.

Is this a good first book or do I need to go for something earlier?

PreSocratics first.

Thanks

Got a decent book in mind?

This one seems alright. Or the Oxford equivalent

He's probably the only dude I've seen that can actually understand the philosophy he's joking about.
Bro Philosophy is fucking cancer.

>he's joking about.
But he doesn't joke about philosophy. He just shoves philosophers into sitcom cliches and references details from their biographies

And it's amusing

Please post more of those. Where are they from?

>literally just mention the idea a thinker has
>continue for 9 fucking panels

Someone teach Linuxfreeordie how to make comics

at least he's a good tweeter

>tfw kant had more friends than you

But that's not true, see >Where are they from?
Read the thread, m8.

>Kant isn't 5'0"

Dropped

>Where are they from?
reddit.com. trust me. go there.

>le red pandas XDDDDD

Start with oxford's "first philosophers," and use graham's "early greek philosophy" if you ever want to circle back to the pre socratics.

Jumping right into plato is fine, and that Cooper text is a great edition. Consider supplementing it with at least wiki articles, if not commentaries dialogue by dialogue (bloomsbury companion to plato and ae taylor's "plato the man and his work" both do this) or as an overview (section of Copleston's history of philosophy relevant to plato) or as more intense academic essays (cambridge companions to plato/republic, vlastos' "platonic studies").

Plato is very accessible, and don't sweat the small stuff at the beginning; you'll never learn Plato "completely," so just enjoy the ride, reference some modern commentaries sometimes, and try to talk on lit about what you've read and learned to make sure you're understanding what's going on.

Good luck!

This is my favorite.

Freud stole half of Schopenhauer's ideas and claimed to never have read him.

he's a badphiller

Hey /lit, how about a short story?

He makes good comics, but he's a boring pseudo-marxist (who's actually just a lifestyle liberal) on Twitter.

>hey guys pls vote for Clinton thx for correcting the record haha

The End. I hope you've learned a valuable lesson about not judging people by how they appear.

I learned that it's normal to be afraid of autistic people, even if they turn out not to be horrible.

Eh, good enough.

Anyone who didn't already know this needs to lurk moar. Got banned off of that sub a while ago kek.

Nigga what the hell is this gay bullshit

The girl is actually a boy and the boy has sex with his mother

This is pure degeneracy

The girl is a girl, I simply edited out the nipples
.

of course, i always change my opinions when a made up story implies that i should

Learning valuable lesson =/= changing your mind

>He makes good comics, but he's a boring pseudo-marxist (who's actually just a lifestyle liberal) on Twitter.

Welp, guess I can't like his comics anymore.

What did you do?
They have a suspicious amount of Veeky Forums crossposters (and someone posted Scaruffi on there).

not the guy you replied to, but I got b& for shitting on terry pratchett

kek
i got banned from badlit for being mildly sarcastic to a mod which also autobanned me from badphil

>he was a nice guy

He makes some pretty salacious jokes in less technical works like the Anthropologie, and his letters are often full of humor.

Ugh. He's also aGG. Shoulda known

How the fuck have I not been banned then? I insult them a lot, in the normal Veeky Forums way.

Yeah, he browses Veeky Forums. I had a convo with him on here like a year ago.

>tfw prejudicial normiwashing of history

that second panel needs to be cropped for /pol/

way to derail the philosophical comics with pseudo-moral stories about autism fuckface

I fucking hate Freud. I've studied both psychology and literature and the thing is, Freud is fucking outdated in exactly everything, but when you study literary-theory we still had to do his shit-theories. Fucking hate it so much.

This one is pretty good.

wasn't it parmenides taht stated motion is impossible, not zeno

Technically everything has electrons, and much of the human body is h20

Both did it, although I think Zeno was trying to show how logic can lead to absurdities IRL

Well played, you fucking asshole, you made me read the most worthless shit I've read in a while. I tip my hat to you and am actually more amused and angry at the shitty punchline.

How could you possibly not know given how hard he sucks De Beauvoir's meaty cock

Jung was better in every way but alas he wasn't a sneaky Semite.

well, you've convinced me not to vaccinate my kids, so thanks for that i guess

Man, I love self-referential posts in Veeky Forums

google "existentialist comics"

Read it again :^)

These are pretty good.

The Demiurge isn't funny though. It's horrific.

>unconscious drives
>outdated

Same as in philosophy, you have to know the foundations to appreciate where we are, how far we've come, and how little we know.
