Is there a more patrician publisher than Everyman's Library? Serious question.

poo in the loo

They publish books by women and nonwhites. That's all you need to know

There are more expensive publishers, but they're gaudy. EML is the sweet spot. Beautiful, well-built, and affordable.

>patrician publisher
>english publisher

choose one

I got some books from Heritage Press from my grandpa, they've been out of business since the 80s. The books are quite big, and made well with quality materials. I've so far only read books originally published in English so I don't know how the translations are.

How does a french translation of W&P show that parts of the original were in french?

RACISTS GTFO MY LIT
0 tolerince for you assholes anymore

those parts are in russian

Go back to shreddit, kiddo. This is /pol/ country now

if its anything like the dozens of russian lit books I've read in french, they'll just either add a footnote saying it was originally in French or put the words in question in italics

So fucking what if I visit reddit? That doesn't make you any less of an asshole. Go jerk off to your anime porn or something manbaby.

Well, what's the most patrician publisher on the globe, then?

Dalkey
Grove Press
New Directions
Loeb
OUP

Tolstoy's French was notoriously bad so any native speaker can spot those passages.

cut your fucking nails, you third world faggot

Terrible bait.

They're pretty fucking great.

I was planning on getting The Iliad, Odyssey and Aeneid, fun fact. The hardback Everyman Library editions of the 3 are actually cheaper than the typical 3 book boxset from Penguin that people usually buy here.

But then again Everyman is Fitzgerald and Penguin is Fagles, and I haven't decided which one I'd rather buy.

>everyman
>every man
>proletatiat commie shit
>patrician
No

The guy to whom I was refering said that patrician and English are mutually exclusive in a publisher.

Éditions de l'Encyclopédie des Nuisances

you'll thank me later

>Fitzgerald
Garbage. Lattimore is the best Homer translation but the books look like shit, pic related.

/pol/ larper vs reddit larper

I got the Hardcover and it looks much better once you take off the ugly cover sleeve.

He is referring to La Pléiade. He is probably right that it's the most patrician publisher on the globe (i can't think of a true equivalent) but they are not strictly a French language publisher. They print works in their original language too.

Keep in mind that the prices are really high. It's for people who both want perfect editorial work and fetichize books as objects.

yeah well he's a dick

also the answer to the original question is Taschen, of course

Some kind of anarcho-primitivist publisher?

>Les livres qu'elle édite sont composés sur linotype avec des caractères en plomb dans l'une des dernières imprimeries françaises qui pratiquent ce type de travail

That's pretty hardcore. Next step is to rely on copyist monks.

you gotta cut your fucking nails, thats fucking disgusting you trashy low life faggot

Fitzgerald!! I've been yelling all week about his translation of The Odyssey.

suck my dick bitch nigger

>tfw this user is probably too niggardly to afford EML books.

I've the war and peace three book box set. They're good but not a big deal

Lattimore's good, but so is Fitzgerald. Especially his Odyssey.

But Abdul you don't speak English!

I have the fagles version, is that any good?

kek

lmao
