I feel like this may be a regional thing. Maybe not and Im just an idiot but in coastal SC (basically Myrtle Beach to Charleston) we have "oyster roasts" during the winter months. We go out and harvest our own oysters and either steam or roast them. Then the proper combo is:

>oyster dipped in butter
>placed on a saltine cracker
>splashed with texas pete or a louisiana hot sauce
>plenty of beer

Hell of a time. Plus Murrells Inlet oysters are some of the best in the country.
