For me, it's gotta be the humble ham n cheeser. The best home made sandwich.

I'll give a nod to tuna melt because it hold a special place in my heart.

Only thing that could round out a top 5 is a grilled cheese and a BLT.

First step is to make home made sourdough bread. This is probably outside the scope of this thread. But that process begins with cultivating your own wild yeast starter.

After you are done making the bread, you should acquire some ham (i prefer large hams at economy prices from a place like costco), some dukes mayonnaise, and some american pasteurized cheese food product.

I like to assemble by slicing the cooled bread thinly. Then I use an Ateco Ultra 1305 Stainless Steel Offset Spatula to liberally apply dukes mayo to both slices. I carve the ham as thin as possible. And after placing a solid amount of ham on that sandwich I place both pieces of bread, mayo and ham side up, in a Cuisinart CSO-300 toaster oven, on the #3 toast setting.

When it comes out I add add the cheese food product, close, and slice on a slight bias to gain a better angle shot of the interior of the sandwich and its juicy fillings.

The offset spatula use cannot be oversold. It is extremely important.

I take a flatbread, slather it in mayo on one half mustard on other
I put slices od cheese over both halves, add some pickles and then some ham, i slice a couple of boiled eggs and put the slices with actual yolk in them, into the sandwich. If i have any, i top it off with some sun-dried tomatoes, sprinkle some groud up cheese over the mess I've made, fold the entire thing in half so that it resembles a very thick taco, press it, grill it and eat it.
