Guys what the fuck is this

yeah so I got a rec from some weeb whom I told I have japanese damascus knives. He said this anime is about people preparing japanese food so fucking well that you can actually get hungry from watching it. (weird, I know.)

The title is Shokugeki no Souma

So I found s1e01 of it with subtitles and literally watched 2 minutes of it and what the fuck is this

guys does anyone of you actually watch this?

>8897943

My boyfriend watches it and I'm too much of a normie to care.

>literally watched 2 minutes of it
Fuck off and watch at least one full episode before you ask us to think for you.

the manga starts all porny then gets into normal shonen tropes real quick and becomes boring. The first few times a girl's clothes blast off are great though

>the manga starts all porny then gets into normal shonen tropes real quick
Pretty much this.

You could make it about kung-fu and the characters, tropes, and fanservice wouldn't change at all.

The recipes are interesting, though.

...

It's about cooking and comes with actual recipes, you fucking moron.

It's fucking great, keep watching it

Last arc of the first season is one of the best anime arcs I've ever watched, and I watched hundreds of series.

I hope it gets better because the first 2 episodes are the most inane ecchi trash ever with a semblance of food in it.

If ecchi triggers you you should stop watching it right now.

it doesn't trigger me, it's just not what i come to TV for, if I want to jack off I am going to jack off, I watch anime to see an interesting story, think about things, laugh, or just see interesting visuals, not to get my pathetic otaku ween hard.

The ecchi remains, but once the cooking battles start the food becomes more prominent.

One of the better animes from the past 2 years.

Well worth the watch, especially for those interested in cooking.

It's wacky. Good junkfood anime. Probably like a 5/10 all things told, but it's got a weird sort of plucky and novel charm to it, taking something as not anime-esque as possible, like cooking, and making it odd and exciting. Sometimes you might get hungry from watching it.

It's probably not for everybody. I'd watch three episodes or so and then drop it if you're not interested.

It's gets better keep watching

I watched 2 seasons of it. It's good, but it gets really repetitive after a while. I hate how quickly they introduce "villians" before main charcter-kun BTFOs them but that's shonen for you.

Watch Yakitate! It is an anime about bread.

it gets pretty absurd later though

No
It's glorified European food prepared by hunger games style school attenders

it becomes absurdist, turning its jokes inward against the show as well as the genre it was always lampooning. the difference between base level parody and yakitate is that it genuinely loves its subject matter.

it was always self-aware they just knew they were being cancelled in the last arc and went full space ghost with it

You tried to make that sound bad but failed misably.

>breakfast ramen
>rice with seasoning
>THE ENTIRE CURRY TOURNAMENT
So this is what it means to be retarded...

>school attenders
...students?

At least watch something before you start making bold claims about it.

Oh I know, i watched it, but it can throw people off, especially if they aren't too immersed in anime.

word. misunderstood you. was my first anime series ever so i was in that situation. really, really, enjoyed it.

Idiot.

If we're going to talk about food animes, I'd like to recommend that everyone watch Sweetness and Lightning. It's a very chill anime about a single father raising his daughter, and every episode he cooks with her. There are recipes in the manga too, and the ones I have tried are pretty good.

Excuse me faggot? I said right in my post that I watched seasons 1 and 2. And I said it was good. Kindly fuck off.

Your last sentence proves that you haven't watched the latest episodes.
