Over here in Ameriland Spam is considered a cheap, unhealthy poorfag food. That, and for the price you can get bacon and other, better meats nowadays there's really no reason to get Spam if you own a fridge.

Lived in an unincorporated county in southern Illinois, Leeville,LA and a small town outside of Tampa,FL. I've seen the locals eat spam once in a while but it was by no means popular, and they would usually eat it without cooking. When I lived in Illinois my friends mom liked chopping it up into cubes and adding it to ramen and soup.

Fun fact: when I was stationed in Korea in the 80's, Spam was a huge black market item. It had to be rationed for US soldiers because at the first of the month the korean army wives would clear out the Spam aisle and sell it on the black market.
