Can someone explain to me the thing with Americans and air conditioning. I understand in the southern states, but from the TV it seems like they are all mad for it even in the northern more temperate areas similar to Northern Europe?

Fatfucks have to have air conditioning even when the outside temperature is 68F. Plus, most americans are scared to open their windows due to astronomical crime rates. In my neighborhood, I'm the only one that ever opens his windows. I think we're heading to the point in the US where houses will be built more like prisons with 1/2 foot diameter bullet proof glass windows that don't open.
