The first time I ate good ramen I was disappointed, but it was still delicious. It's just noodle soup, but the broth is really rich.

Real Tonkotsu ramen has no equal. Pho is dirty dishwater with noodles.

The broth is usually easy to get down. imo the difference between good and bad ramen is the texture of the noodles.

It's delicious when done right. Most places get the broth ans ingredients right but fuck up the noodles. I don't like paying $12-15 for a bowl of soup when I can get a full plate of decent food for the same price.

work in a ramen shop myself, still haven't gotten tired of eating it every weeknight, we make chicken broth ourself as it's easier but I think pork is slightly better if it's done properly, and to answer OP's question, no it's not a meme, it's one of the best soups out there, probably tied with chinese beef noodle soup. and it's very customizable, with tons of topping and soup flavoring options

I eat ramen once a month since I live in Japan. If you eat it more than once a week it gets old really fast.

Treat it like a hamburger or whatever your national fast food is. It can be made and purchased cheap for a quick meal. Or you can spend more and turn it into something gourmet tier.
