A couple gallons of peanut oil will last me half a year, maybe $20-30 total? I'll deep fry maybe once every month or so for a big batch of something. Maybe use a couple tablespoons for random stuff when vegetable is getting boring.
Decent investment even though vegetable oil is about 1/4 the cost, really makes a big difference

heh, I though this would work and seems like someone has done it.
Also after further research turns out paraffin waxes and oils do cause damage to the liver among other things. After long term use of course, but apparently people have been using mineral oils and oil mixtures for cooking.
My father uses lard every now and again and it smells like death but boy is it flavorful.
