A sub and ice cream between waffles are both sandwiches, though.

A McChicken

im no expert on food definitions, but for me its gotta be bread surrounding other food. could even be another piece of bread. i dont feel like condiments are required. nor are cheeses or meats.

A Hot dog isn't a sandwich, what the hell?

Just because a dish involves something being sandwiched doesn't mean it's a sandwich.

but by definition it does.

pop tart is more of a sandwich than a hot dog

Nobody ever said a hotdog was a poptart

but hot dog isnt

I like the "origins" definition. If sandwiching the food between bread or bread-analogues makes it easier to eat one-handed (ideally while gambling) then it deserves to be graced with the good Earl of Sandwich's name

Its only a sandwich if you use slices of bread. That's why you start using rolls, wraps and rotis

Where do you get your definition from? Dictionary authors with no grasp on the culinary arts.

A cannoli is a sandwich.

An Oreo is also a sandwich

Slice that hotdog and put it on a sub is it a sandwich?

So a meatball sub is not a sandwich? It split not 2 pieces of bread.

If you accept a sub as a sandwich then you must accept the hotdog.

OP's head is an autism sandwich. One vegetable wrapped in very bony meat.

No its split between one piece of bread!! You lose.

If your food can be described as something other than a sandwich, like a wrap etc it isn't a sandwich. Only things that can be defined purely as sandwiches and nothing else should be called sandwich.

Ingredients literally don't matter though.

It's a sandwich cookie. Says so on the package

Structural purist, ingredients don't matter.

Is a nug a sandwich? It's sandwiched between breading
