Does california have good sweets?

Are the tiny flags mandatory?

Thanks for sharing user

My family is half Danish. Every one I've ever seen has those flags, including all the ones my mother and grandmother made. They're traditional for sure.

I'm not too fond of them though. They are made of ground-up almonds and sugar so they are extremely rich, much more so than a normal cake made from flour. I'm also not a big fan of almonds in general so....yeah...not my favorite.

Dood what the fuck. If you make your own pumpkin pie from scratch its like fucking crack. Seriously, make a pie from blue sweet meat squashes, butternut, or sweet potatoes and that shit will be amazing

Nope, nanaimo bars -- absolute fucking crack

>living in Nanaimo

Why the fuck?

I seriously doubt this is a Minnesota thing, but lemon bars are a staple at almost any get together around here. First dessert to vanish every time.

normal people don't get diabetes from one dessert.

Is it possible to still bake if I don't have a stand mixer (all I have is a hand-held mixer)?

I can't think of anything you couldn't do with a whisk and a little elbow grease.

yeah, no problem, might have to use your hands and muscles, like in the old days:)

Thanks, anons...I keep finding recipes calling for the use of a stand mixer. I have ZERO exp with breads and desserts (mainly breads) and really want to start and having to buy a new appliance is not an option.

start with basic stuff and go with the flow. baking is fun

The Wisconsin cream puff

No, baking wasn't invented until after stand mixers; they are required.

Palanqueta de cacahuate.

Day of the Dead traditional candy: alfeñiques. The only reason to be hyped about november 2th, since the festivity itself is kinda boring.

I was just in Amsterdam and couldn't stop eating stroopwafels

In a a good chunk of Mexico, kids get their Christmas gifts in january 6th (these guys en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biblical_Magi are the ones who bring the gifts, not Meme Claus). Pic related it's the traditional bread for that day. It has a little toy (usually a baby Jesus) hidden in one of the slices. The one who gets it has to buy tamales for everyone at February 2. It's a pretty cool tradition, now that i think about it.

Please help me figure out what this dessert is, my family in Italy used to send it to me. It's a white bar that comes in a package, and is chewy but soft, kinda fluffy, and has nuts in it. I've also seen them in Greek grocery stores.
