Why do people drink Sprite/7up/Sierra Mist when pic related exists?

I don't drink 7up but it has a cool history.

It was originally made and marketed as a lady-like alternative to alcohol. See way back when it was improper in the U.S. for women to drink or smoke, so some businesses came up with other ways for ladies to get their kicks without violating social norms.

7up was made with added Ether, iirc.

This is well known in Appalachia. There's a old folk song from around here about "that good ol' moutain dew", and it sure as hell isn't about soda. Their original mascot was a hillbilly too.

We don't have squirt in North Carolina, we buy Wink. It looks pretty much the same, and I bet taste rather similar as well, considering they are both grapefruit sodas.
