How come you never see the employees of Chinese buffets anywhere else outside of the restaurant?

As is the custom in HK, the owner usually provides a house that all the employees share. The manager drives everyone to work in the morning. So yeah, outside the casino, maybe, but they don't go out to much really.

Because they're illegals who offer work in exchange for some slave labor ring to pay for their transport here. They keep them in tiny apartments stacked like bunkbeds, but like, 4 to a wall, and they charge them for food and shelter and transportation, so they never pay off their debt, meaning they are endlessly endebted to slave labor.
It's true, they used to bust places like this fairly regularly until suddenly the gob'mint decided to only focus on brown people.

To a totally foreign country where your language isn't widely spoken and where your presence is probably illegal and where you're not even paid well or given a fair chance to pay off your debt or live much of a life outside a buffet restaurant? I worked at an Indian restaurant like this, the three chefs all lived together and worked 7 days a week, lunch and dinner. How anyone can live like that is beyond me.

in these chinese restaurants they work like 15 hours a day. from morning early prep to late night. many of those open 7 weeks, including holidays.

I don't know how it is in the States, but I actually live quite close to one of the staff in my local Chinese buffet, who's also the wife of the head chef. We're good friends, and she's even given me garden-grown vegetables on a couple of occasions.

I routinely see groups of Vietnamese waiter tier people standing around one player at a high limit blackjack or pai gow table where they've obviously pooled all their money and have one player with the "bestest luck" that day making hundred dollar or higher wagers. They are notoriously overagressive in poker as well overbetting their hand and running hopeless bluffs.

In a lot of cases, these people are victims of human trafficking, wherein they're promised a job in America, flown over, have their passport taken, and are forced to work in inhumane conditions for no pay beyond what they need to survive. It's really fucked up.
