apes are pound for pound stronger than humans, but they move awkwardly and lack the fine motoric skills and hand-eye coordination of adult humans

Physically speaking, what sets humans apart from every other animal is our excellent precision, aim and coordination. There's a biological trade-off between strength and coordination. So no, they can't be trained to shoot firearms accurately, barely even rocks.
