They do. However, the recent warming was predominantly caused by man-made CO2.

large eruptions can bring prolonged temperature drops
Tambora literally caused frosts in mid summer across northern hemispehere

HEY GUYS. FUN FACT TIME.

Lava and magma are different. Lava is magma that's exposed to the Earth's surface.

yup, they emit aerosols which are highly reflective to incoming solar radiation, so it gives a cooling effect on Earth

yeah they do, they put aerosols in the air which cool down the Earth in the short term but they also release large amounts of greenhouse gases which warm the Earth in the long term

Volcanoes temporarily cool the climate.

lol

Yes. Sulphr dioxide released volcanically (or otherwise I suppose) causes cooling. Not sure what the timescale is

Yeah mean
>Do volcanoes effect global warming in any way?

A: No

No.

We have no control over volcanoes but we can have one over corporations and brainlets who want cars.

Bingo. The temperature drop in 1816 was a good example.

>Do volcanoes effect climate change in any way?
no

>implying anyone who graduated from high school didn't know that

so can we avert any future global warming with this method?

Yes

problem solved
greenpeace can go home

hooray!

>Dude let's just erupt a ton of volcanos!
The pacific rim is supposed to be heating up in the next few years.

we don't need to do anything, the yellowstone volcano is going to be erupting soon
also take the stick out from your ass

Yeah, but certain groups have issues with the government spraying things indescriminately into the atmosphere.

They do, but they have been largely balanced out by the carbon absorbtion cycle in the past.
Our carbon production has overloaded the carbon absorbtion cycle which is causing the build up of carbon in the atmosphere. So they're having an effect simply because we fucked the carbon cycle.

Massive global cooling and fertilization, yes.
