TL;DR: Some kid was solving a math problem that required the manipulation of square roots. Then some other kids started looking at it and thought that the square root sign represented a gun. That's right, not "look like", represented. As in, they thought he was writing plans for a school shooting. Then the kids got the attention of the school, and the school got the attention of the police. In the end, the police literally raided the original kid's house in search of actual real guns.
This is the absolute state the United States. I think this is evidence enough to say that from this day, the US is no longer part of the academic community. They are best seen as a third world country, taking small steps a la Zimbabwe to someday achieve an intellectual culture.
Please use this thread as an in memoriam of American intellectual culture as it was proclaimed dead February 22, 2018 12:43 PM
That's not what the article says, retard. It says that a group of students were talking about how the square root sign looks like a gun, then another student made a comment that sounded like a threat. The police searched that student's home, not the original student's home. Why can't you read?
Jose Gutierrez
>On the afternoon of Feb. 20, detectives investigated a report of terroristic threats at the school, where they learned that a student had been completing a math problem that required drawing the square-root sign.
>Students in the group began commenting that the symbol, which represents a number that when multiplied by itself equals another number, looked like a gun.
You are only right in the fact that it wasn't the original kid who got searched.
Nicholas Sanchez
I am only right in the fact that no one got raided for writing a square root sign, which is an obvious clickbait distortion of the real story.
Daniel Walker
You are only right in the fact that even though America is supposedly the freest country in the world, you can't even joke about a square root without getting RAIDED BY THE POLICE.
What do you make of that? That the kid got
>FREEDOMED? >R >E >E >D >O >M >E >D ?
Tbh I don't even think americans are people anymore. This is some next level subhuman tier shit. Not even Canada mate. NOT EVEN CANADA DOES THIS SHIT.

Where does it say he joked about a square root? Why do you have to keep lying? Is it because you are insecure about your own country?

>After several students made comments along those lines, another student said something the sheriff’s office said could have sounded like a threat out of context.
Stop even trying mate. Read the fucking article. You are retarded. You live in a police state. Your kids don't know what square roots are. Let's recap, shall we:
>american students say square root looks like a gun and then make other silly comments >the teachers get involved, think square root is a serious threat >the administration gets involved, think square root is a gun threat >the police get involved, think it is enough evidence to raid the kid's house. And they do.
Jesus fucking Christ. This is a very nice precedent. I thought in the past the police had to plant cocaine in order to get people convicted. Now they just have to bring a sharpie and draw a couple of square roots to incriminate somebody and raid their house.

america is a fucking shithole what do you expect
Carter Baker
>After several students made comments along those lines, another student said something the sheriff’s office said could have sounded like a threat out of context. That's exactly what I'm saying, retard. The entire square root thing is incidental. What triggered the raid was the alleged threat, not the square root sign or comments that the square root sign looked like a gun. You really can't just admit you made a mistake and instead need to double down on lying to preserve your fragile insecurity, huh?
Kevin Long
>You really can't just admit you made a mistake I literally did in my first response to you. But you ignored and kept repeating yourself.
I already accepted my mistake, but if you want to keep going then that's good. I wouldn't expect anything more from an American. And it's also a free bump for everyone else to know that the united states are a shithole country. So please, feel free to keep ignoring reality. And never forget to keep getting
>FREEDOMED? >R >E >E >D >O >M >E >D
>be american >get shot
>be american >get raided by the state
Cameron Barnes
You didn't admit to the mistake I was pointing out, and instead kept repairing that a kid was raided for joking about a square root. The only one being embarrassed is you for needing to make pathetic lies to feel better about yourself,
Joshua Jenkins
>a kid was raided for joking about a square root But a kid was raided for making a comment about a square root. What do you think that comment was? A quote from a documentary? 99.9% of the time it was some kind of gun joke that the baboons in your nation mistook for a gun threat.
Hudson Lee
Nukes are a hoax, and are also too merciful an end for such savages who deserve slow, miserable deaths, so that they can ponder how it came to pass

>be in class full of retards >only smart kid, determined to study mathematics. >some brainlet doesnt even know what a root is and confuses it with a gun >Police invade privacy as they search my house for a gun that is not there. >some moron shitposts about it and wants america including me expelled from academia.
wtf man, give me a break
Kayden Cook
America deserves to die from death by social justice. Everyone please, next election fix your twitter bots to vote for democrats.
After the democrats do their work, what should we do about the land? Should american soil be an Antartica kind of deal in which everyone gets a chunk, or do we just give it to Russia for being the main contributor?
Logan Thompson
No break for you cunt. There is no forgiveness for a nation who managed to go from 1945 america (glory and honor) to 2018 america (cuckoldry and faggotry).
Your nation was literally handed economic control of the universe. This means you were guaranteed to stay rich and well cultured as long as you did not fuck up to bad. And then what did you do? Fuck up reaaal bad. No forgiveness for your people. You were the chosen ones!

>But a kid was raided for making a comment about a square root. Where in the article did it say that? Just stop posting if you can't stop lying.

>After several students made comments along those lines, another student said something the sheriff’s office said could have sounded like a threat out of context.
>Police searched the student’s home, where they found no guns or any evidence that he had any access to guns. Authorities also wrote there was no evidence the student had any intent to commit harm.

Authorities also wrote there was no evidence the student had any intent to commit harm. So you admit the article contains nothing that says he was raided for joking about a square root. Good, the first step to not lying is admitting that you lied.
Sir, you have the freedom to get raided by the police.
What I love is how you know that in raids like these, the police fucking trash the entire house. That's because, under an imminent threat, they can't play games. If they need to see behind something, they will fucking rip it apart and set it aside. Poor kid.

>WHY THE HELL CAN'T NOONE TAKE A PHOTO OF THIS BALL?
A 5th grader in my school district got his house raided by SWAT in the early 2000s because he made a rubber band hand-gun in class once. My parents swore up and down it was because he was black and that wouldn't have happened to a white kid.

Missed opportunity. But imagine being so stupid, that you're literally frightened by calculus.

I remember in middle school when a whole bunch of us got in a ton of trouble for killing this autistic kid's runescape character. The administration rounded us up and compared us to the Columbine shooters, and several kids got suspensions. Good times.
Also glad to see our "prison with teachers" system is continuing to progress nicely.

3rd grade still gives me nightmares. >Read this stupid story and write about it. >If you don't teacher mocks you. >Everybody line-up single file. >Who gets to be the door-holder. >Bump into teacher one day and she screams at me. >Bully waits in the bathroom for the right kid to bloody. Fuck a gun would not have been a surprise with the treatment we went through. Maybe we should be blaming the teachers. Guns themselves are only the trigger word of the day. Duck and cover, Satanic Panic (Memphis 3), Stranger Danger, D.A.R.E. I mean really, my wife's elementary in Arkansas had metal detectors and the kids HAD to have transparent back packs. Yeah getting guns out of the hands of children is a great idea but it has nothing to do with the mental state of these children.
Julian Green
You have 50 minutes MAX at most schools in the US per class. This is to include lecture, assignments, exercises, and if you have any questions you better get them in because the paper is due tomorrow. Mostly we would do parts of it and exchange answers before class because we knew we weren't going to get it and a new topic was ready for us anyway. The system failed most of us.

The most retarded part of this story is that it seems as though 90% of these people don't even know what a square root symbol even looks like.
I'm from the South(albeit a good part) but this shit is just embarrassing.
Hudson Martinez
>Your nation was literally handed economic control of the universe.
It still is, we just let the dipshits have(what they think) is a voice while the smarter folks continue doing what we've been doing been doing since 1945. People just squabble about stupid shit and don't even pay attention to anything, they're just too busy being right or left, but ultimately stupid.
Austin Smith
i grew up in a poor area in the us and we had metal detectors and people checking bags before we could walk inside (there were also 3-4 police in the school at all times)
i remember they pulled out a paper that i drew anime on, because the guy had a sword they called the police over and put me in handcuffs
i couldn't stop giggling about the situation at the time but looking back its just depressing
Lucas Reyes
sure as hell must be depressing to know that the cops found your anime drawings in high school.
