Comp sci belongs in Top tier
>Linguistics not at least in Mid Tier
Embarrassing
we compooter sien do just much work
we deserve top we do BIG maths and BIG scien and code is BIG HARD
>Top 100 uni
>Be me
>Be music education major
>Teach students to pursue a degree in music performance
Ha ha
DEVILISH
>Comp sci belongs in Top tier
move compsci to shit tier because it can give complete tards 100k starting salary
move theology to low tier because it's not important in the world to have many theologists
move philosophy to low tier because it encourages looking at the world in a broad and reductionist way and making sweeping generalizations
Why is civ/mech not god tier?
comp sci belongs as an extension of applied math. most universities have bastardized compsci into some learn to kode monstrosity and this is not ok
the only thing that should be in god tier is theology
>theology
>god tier
Is theology your major?
>being so fucking autistic you don't get the joke
applied math is shit tier
i had to make some revisions. this is coming from an EE major. compsci is obviously not a waste of life but its still nowhere near god tier
>STEM majors "tiers" power ranking
Freshman/sophomore General?
applied math is already below shit tier, and its definitely not to par with applied math
i good with compooters momma say so
gunta GOOD math GOOD scien gunta take Calcolous 1 gunta GOOD math it apply to code
>makes a shitty post

Everytime.
cause they are pretty basic in most scientific fields. source: I'm a civil engineer
t. fedora wearing reddit tier militant atheist

>gets called out for being fucking retarded
>i-t wasn't funny anyway haha
How are CE, ChemE, or MechE any better than EE?
Imagine wasting all your life in front of a computer doing basic arithmetic and thinking you did a good decision choosing such a shitty major
>tries to pass it off as a joke
Theology Major in God tier is obviously a joke, there's no "trying to pass it off," you're just autistic.
>Mechanical Engineering and Astronomy not God tier
>Chemistry not Top Tier
Bullshit
BS
Veeky Forums is oddly perplexed by linguistics; I personally consider it fascinating.
i should have put CE in mid/top tier, i forgot about it. chemE is obviously better, and in my opinion mechE is much more difficult. as an EE major even though it's not the worlds easiest thing it just seems like a bit of a joke compared to the other engis
CivilE and MechE shouldn't be listed together in the first place. MechE alone is far more difficult and vast than any other Engineering field.
>inb4 "Aerospace is more difficult!!1"
Aeronautical/Aerospace/Naval/Industrial/Biomedical/Electronic/Biomechanics/etc. are all either sub-disciplines of ME or related to ME.
it's a pun you stupid retarded fucking autist kill yourself
CE definitely isn't, but EE has no jobs.
You might have a point about ChemE, but you have a shit program if EE is easier than MechE. I know for sure that nothing MechEs do is as difficult as microelectronics. I can tell you as I minor in MechE as an EE major.
lmao massive delusion. You don't get anywhere near as deep in any of those fields as a MechE. You get one class on each of those sub disciplines at the most unless you tailor your electives.
Chemistry is the central science. The central fucking science. Everything is outside of it. You all look in at me.
A quick check on bls.gov shows EE at 7% job growth, ChemE at 8% and MechE at 9%. Hardly any difference.
Is there anything more reductionist than saying all of philosophy is reductionist?
>mech above electrical
they probably belong in the same tier but this is just absurd
You have a shitty curriculum, mate. That's all.
>n-no u
>You don't get anywhere near as deep in any of those fields as a MechE.
No shit. The program would 15 years long If you study every sub-discipline of Mechanical Engineering. But any well-learned MechE can get into said fields.
>You get one class on each of those sub disciplines at the most unless you tailor your electives.
I don't know how extacly function that "major" and "minor" system in the USA (I am German). But how can you speak for an entire academic career when you are just "minoring" in it?
Remember kids, it's not what you know, it's who you know that gets you the big bucks.
>Persuing money instead of intellectual goals
maybe ive got a shit program i don't know
it's just my experience that meche is harder, maybe it's just because im not interested in meche like i am ee
these threads are fucking retarded but this one is easily the worst ranking I have seen
mathematics is above all the others.
so god god tier?
>law is a major
yer fucking retarded
>being poor
What tier are medicine who actually make it into medical school?
below shit tier u can get into med school with an african studies major
Interesting. What tier is actual MD?
god tier obviously as long as you are alright with debt so large your mind cannot comprehend the numbers
What exactly is wrong with civil engineering aside from being brainlet engineering
Nothing you answered your own question
I’m not OP but I imagine the list is just op’s opinion of who are the least bogged brainlets
Nothing, CivilE is interesting, important to society, respectable, and well paying.
go away
go to
physics is one of the most useless degrees pmsl
nothing, highest earnings/difficulty ratio of all engineering
memes aside it really does
God Tier
Surgery MD, PhD in Math, PhD in Physics or PhD in EE
Top Tier
Diagnose MD, Pharma, Law School, PhD in Chemistry, PhD in ChemE, PhD in MechE, PhD in Economics or PhD in CS
Mid Tier
PhD in CivilE, PhD in Geology or PhD in Biology
Low Tier
Bachelors in any STEM Major. MBA.
PhD in Humanities (except Gender & Race Studies).
Shit Tier
Bachelors in Humanities or Business.
Codemonkey bootcamp.
College Dropout.
Are you unironically placing a Humanities PhD at Low Tier? That's Mid Tier at least. That and the Geology PhD needs bumped up.
You really need to state on what they're being ranked on
Best undergrad majors in terms of pay/employment:
God tier:
Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering
Top tier:
Computer Engineering, Finance, Civil Engineering
Mid tier:
Aerospace Engineering, Accounting, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering
Low tier:
other business, Bioengineering, Environmental Engineering, Teaching, Chemical Engineering, Economics
shit tier:
Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Art, History, Theology, Philosophy, everything else not listed
t. salty comp sci undergrad that thinks he's going to be employable

>b-but i have a job! i work at qualcomm making six figures!!
>salty comp sci undergrad that thinks he's going to be employable
Implying they're not? In what world do you live in that CompSci grads don't get jobs?
Now gonna do one that takes into account prestige/educational value
Best undergrad majors in terms of Prestige/Educational value:
God tier:
Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering
Top tier:
Computer Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry
Mid tier:
Accounting, Finance, Economics, Civil Engineering, Bioengineering, Environmental Engineering, Biochemistry
Low tier:
other business,Teaching, Information Technology, Biology
shit tier:
Art, History, Theology, Philosophy, everything else not listed
ahahahahaha AHAHAHAHA no no no bruh AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA NO NO NO NO
Sorry, all I read was salt. Try replying when you stop feeling jealous.
>little did you know you were dealing with a master memer!
this image says pepe likes me more
Best answer in thread as a CE major at top 50 engineering
I've known Pepe for many years, fella, and I assure you that to me, Pepe is bae: you're just senpai.
Clearly never taken philosophy before. Ironic that you're making a sweeping generalization of a subject while accusing it of making sweeping generalizations. Analytic philosophy (formal logic, philosophy of science, philosophy of mathematics, philosophy of language) is the purest of the pure subjects
>move compsci to shit tier because it can give complete tards 100k starting salary
kek
i the guy u replied to
made me lol
>hardly any difference
EE has 21,000 new jobs being added in a ten year period. That is 2,100 jobs a year. Then when you take into account that the field stagnated for a couple years (used to have negative growth) there's a queue built up which will still make finding working nearly impossible for most.
8% job growth for ChemE means 2,500 jobs in ten years. Don't act like that's impressive, that's suicide tier.
9% for MechEng means 25,300 new jobs. Not that great but when you consider MechEng's can weasel themselves in other industries its far better then other two. so there is a huge difference.
In hindsight I think its better to move math to mid tier. The educational value you get might be pretty decent but its not really applicable and most math majors end up as teachers. That's not really prestigious. At the PhD level I'd say its probably God tier but at undergrad level its just mid tier. Not really worth majoring unless you want to be a teacher or go to grad school.
>tfw physics+chemistry joint honors degree
I'm already regretting not picking math instead of chem. Was this a bad idea?
Computer science is god tier. It's awesome!
You should have picked computer science
>cheme and ee cant into other industries but me can
jesus fuck you're retarded
Why does everyone rank geology mid to low? Comfy tier major desu lots of camping and beer
Dude computer science man
ChemE grads can take any MechE job related to Fluid Mechanics & Thermodynamics
EE grads can take any MechE job related to Control / Automation / Robotics & Instrumentation.
Any Humanities or STEM graduate can into CS
And how many of those jobs are there?
The majority of EE and ChemE (especially these poor saps) are gonna have to compete outside their field for scarce positions.
>The majority of EE and ChemE (especially these poor saps) are gonna have to compete outside their field for scarce positions.
why the fuck do you keep pretending ee is incredibly niche? there are countless real world applications in every single industry for ee, and they all hire ee
i have no experience with cheme but you have no idea what you're talking about
>they all hire ee
lol
If you don't believe me you're more then welcome to make a thread asking people if they've been able to find employment on their field. ChemE and EEs struggle to find work. Mainly ChemE's. The problem is the other kind of work ChemEs can do is also pretty scarce. EE is not as bad but from the EE's I know they haven't been too lucky in finding work. Some settled for technician jobs.
Hell I was a ChemE major until I asked around and found how hard it was to find work. Good thing I switched.
As an unemployed EE who graduated in May, the struggle is real. Looks like I'm about to land a real engineering job, thank god, but damn it's been a while.
I'd put theology in God Tier since this is the most logical spot.
>/pol/
>move compsci to shit tier because it can give complete tards 100k starting salary
That would be a reason to move it to god tier. Your post suggests that you should consider going for compsci so you can get a 100k starting salary too
How do you get a phd in theology? how do you create new knowledge without being a heretic?
By studying implications. It's how Christianity gave birth to science.
I did ChemE and work as a process metallurgist at a copper mine. I was earning near double of what engineering grads I knew in other fields were making when I graduated. I was a fairly average student, finding a job isn't hard even if you aren't the top student. Day to day project shit I do on site is really interesting as well. I'd much rather that than sitting in an office.
God that sounds depressing. Good luck on the job. A lot of EE's I know struggle to find work so don't think there's something wrong with you, remain confident.
You have no clue how much I would love to do that. Where do you live? I live in California and there are barely any jobs for ChemE here. It's nearly impossible to find work around here but maybe its better where you live. I heard so many horror stories from recent grads who couldn't find work that i backed out because I didn't want to risk being unemployed after I graduate. It sucks, but I don't regret it. My main concern was a job and I don't think I would've been able to handle not getting a job after graduating.
is this just undergrad majors? i majored in physics and chemistry so those are both 'god tier' but i'm in medical school so what is that? 'top tier'?
also, if i could do it all over again, i'd major in neuro and comp sci. that's because all research is in that direction.
for instance, i had to learn programming for my research in physics. and i later started research in neuro which also required me to learn programming. nothing too intense, just python to use things like astropy/kplr/batman and nipy.
>engineering is god-tier
Go back to /pol/, brainlet.
wat
if comp sci goes on top biology does too.
There is a difference between classical biology and the new disciplines anons
is aeronautical engineering lower, equivalent or higher tier than aerospace?
all this "cs is 100k free money meme"
if you go to a top 10 you get free money for being in cs if you aren't turboautist
the rest of us compete for the same 65k starting salary for being shit in a brainlet swamped industry where people quit their jobs a year in
