"The Future of Humanity" by Michio Kaku

Have any of you read this? What are your thoughts on this book and Michio Kaku?

It's just a science fiction fantasy story my dude

He's a hack who came to prevalence in popsci by telling people what they want to hear.

He's still better than the likes of Tyson or Nye.

What modern scientists today does Veeky Forums approve of then?

Actual ones.

I really don't like his approach to pop-sci. Read Gribbin or Greene if you want interesting non-technical reads on physics, read Kaku if you want to indulge in fanfiction on how we might have teleporters some day.

He's still better than Nye and Tyson, but only because he's written a few half-decent papers and textbooks on string theory.

People who believe Star Trek is a documentary aren't that much better than people who think boolean logic is fuzzy.

Like?

Witten is a meme here, so probably him.
I like Wolfram and Freedman.
I am not the guy you responded to.

Michio Caca Poopoo.

Nah Tyson and Nye are both better. Kaku is a conman

My physics professors

Tyson is a real professor. Nye is an actor with an engineering degree. Kaku is obviously the smartest of the three.

Chomsky
Pinker
Dawkins
Are all legitimate scientists.

>cover has a domed city with a space plane flying at it

Space airplanes are the future, bro.

>Pinker
This guy is an IYI.

If Kaku was a real intellectal then he wouldn't write populist gibberish predictions that mean nothing.

Au contraire, mon Holmes. Chomsky's not a "scientist," not a Science Man, not the All-Sciences Officer on the spaceship Enterprise who knows everything about every field. They are specialists with a specialization. Outside that specialization, they are mortal, and bleed. When linguist Chomsky decides to talk about politics, or when biologist Dawkins decides to show how much he understands about theology, or when cognitionist Pinker honestly thinks it's a good idea to open his mouth about history, they are just embarassing to listen to. Kurt Vonnegut worked PR at GE and once brought in a Science Article he thought all the Science People would be excited about because Science. Turns out that outside their specialization a scientist is just an ordinary guy.
You want a real intellectual to worship? Get into NN Taleb.

String theory was dismissed, and everything else tengas said on science has been dumb

>specialists with a specialization
aka scientists

I like Taleb, but I was naming scientists that also were popular or known writers, and those three certainly all qualify.

Scientists. Not historians. Not theologians. Mastering organic chemistry means absolutely nothing in terms of commenting on English literature.
