Less resources used, less space taken up, and (this will trigger tall "men") modern combat favors smaller size as you have less surface area to be hit with a projectile, and (assuming you are still relatively strong) you are more dexterous because of the square cubed law so you can draw your firearm faster and you have less distance to move your arm and weapon to aim it at your target (even if the absolute speed is slower you'll get there first) and get your shots off first AND because your opponent is larger and slower you can hit him more easily.
Assuming you can put the same amount of stopping power down range there is no reason not to make super soldiers and our species smaller, largeness is obsolete now. Keep women big though because giantess is hot.

If the goal is an optimal species we would likely change all sorts of drives level. Hunger intensity, sex drive, and also reward centers would likely be messed with. You'd want a lot of variation possible within the species of elf but nothing like human levels.

The reason it's so attractive is that higher clockspeed of a brain would make time "slow down". So if you doubled how fast your brain works somehow you would basically double your perceived life span. You could watch movies at 2x speed or read a fuckload more in an hour.

The point of pointy ears is a minimal distance new species. Hijacking existing views of elves in the process.
