It's a pretty good conductor because of all the free electrons, but that's not the same thing.

In most MHD calculations the resistance is considered to be negligible, and any joule heating that did occur would just count towards raising the plasma temperature and creating fusion. Also Z-pinches are really shitty and nobody is suggesting that. You would have to find some other geometry.
