many governmental institutions have "invested" in science by paying universities to produce studies. if you want useful shit to come out of universities then you got to outsource bigger-scale research when and if you can to universities. For example, my uni right now is doing research into Computer Vision, Bioinformatics, and General Inteligence in our CS departments, you won't be able to get rid of the gender studies department so just start driving more STEM instead. Grease the gears of science with the blood and oil of capitalism.
