Thoughts on this? Why should I take the word of Neil Degrasse Tyson and Bill Nye over that of Freeman Dyson (an actual physicist)?
>Why should I take the word of Neil Degrasse Tyson and Bill Nye
Because they're getting their talking points from actual climate scientists.
Old people are retarded and listening to them even more so. I put my trust in science and facts and they support climate change. Period.
Show us on the doll where Freeman Dyson touched you user
>actual climate scientists.
Do not exist. They are model makers who make very little use of experiment.
>Freeman Dyson
>retarded
>In 2001, U.S. President George W. Bush appointed Tyson to serve on the Commission on the Future of the United States Aerospace Industry and in 2004 to serve on the President's Commission on Implementation of United States Space Exploration Policy, the latter better known as the "Moon, Mars, and Beyond" commission. Soon afterward, he was awarded the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal, the highest civilian honor bestowed by NASA.
Yeah fuck these physicist posers.
He is right about climate models. The climate is likely a computationally irreducible system. It likely is produced by mutliple Turing Complete processess. In other words, you have to let it run to see what it will do, and very little reduction is possible.
I don't know about that Sun Spots idea though. It just shows what a joke statistics is at this level. The idea that hugely complex statistical models will be predictive of anything in this system is what is wrong.
I am not saying stop trying to learn more about the climate. I am saying that the complex statistical models that climate scientists are doomed to failure because no matter how complex their equations are, they are studying something that is likely Turing Complete.
Freeman Dyson doesn't know anything about climate though. Would you consult him on biology? No, because he doesn't know anything about biology. He's just repulsed by the alarmism involved, so he pretends like he's valid in rejecting/questioning it. That's fair enough, alarimism/sensationalism can be very annoying. What's not fair is pretending you have deeper reasons.
ewww so discussing
Climate "scientists" don't know anything about the climate either, that's the point. They are glorified weathermen who make predictions based on "semi-empirical" models (that have constantly been wrong since the 1900s.
That's not forgetting that the historic climate temperature data cannot be completely trusted as accurate, nor can current temperature data be considered a complete view of temperature of earth.
Quantum mechanics is based on statistical argument, would you say those scientists are doomed to failure as well?
This puts into question his knowledge about physics.
Not the poster you were replying to, but yes, most likely. But at least they can do experiments in controlled conditions, unlike climate "scientists" who are at the mercy of an ever changing climate that they cannot control.
He doesn't like the alarmism because it talks about the dangers in 10, 20, 30 years (when he won't be alive). People don't like to think about times when they will be dead, especially when it's close at hand.
makes sense, so lets just keep growing exponentially then.
Climate scientists have been predicting doomsdays since the early 1900s, from extreme ice ages, to extreme heat waves, to now just "climate change", where any weather event can be blamed on CO2 which is just nuts. There's always been a political motive behind it, Al Gore being a modern example.
Tick tock, it's the doomsday clock. This is like 2012 all over again.
makes sense, so lets just keep increasing our population exponentially then.
Well they've done a better job at predicting hurricane trajectories.
And I doubt you can anything about climate scientists in general. The media just likes reporting studies that will gather a study. Unless you are in the actual field I doubt we know what their general consensus is.
You wish virgin.
exponentially means, doubling every x number of years.
2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, and so on.
>predicting hurricane trajectories
Yeah, using real time data, that's not the same thing at all.
After the shit hits the fan, I think you people will find someone to blame other than yourselves.
its exactly the same fucking models you twat. climate models have nearly identical predictive physics as hurricane models.
My entire point was about computational irreducibility. Statistics can tell us some things, but you aren't going to be able to predict what processes that amount to a Turning Machine will do.
As for QM, I think much smarter people than you and I are trying to figure that out. I'll leave it to them until I can actually contribute.
I have no problem calling climate scientists out because I do understand how to build statistical models and how most are bullshit that assume their conclusions.
My point is about computational irreducibility. Statistics can't help with that problem.
What's the population going to be in 2019?
If you truly believed this alarmist nonsense you espouse, why aren't you doing everything in your power to reduce your carbon footprint? At this very moment you are contributing to the very thing you're warning people of.
>thinks we have an accurate model of the climate
>why aren't you doing everything in your power to reduce your carbon footprin
beyond living in a hut in Africa, I am. Still mega-consumers like you are multiplying exponentially and outnumbering people like me more and more every day, so it won't make a difference for anything but my conscience.
The ship will rust and sink eventually anyway, but there are a few people on the the ship that are saying we should veer away from the iceberg despite that - they are outnumbered by 1000:1 and growing by people who say full speed ahead this is fun fun fun!
we do. people like you choose to ignore science because it makes your lives simpler.
You probably believe in importing Africans here. Shut the fuck up.
I'm against immigration from anywhere, not just Africa.
>beyond living in a hut in Africa, I am
Kek, I highly doubt that. You should go and live in the forest, but you won't because you're a mega-consumer too who only gives a shit about the environment because pseudo-scientists have told you to.
I can pretty much guarantee my footprint is far far less than yours.
Because you simply don't give a fuck. People like you can rationalize away pretty much anything to feed your most reptilian instincts to feed and reproduce.
I cycle everywhere and have been on a plane a total of 6 times in 31 years, and I don't even believe in doomsday climate change. Beat that pseudo-environmentalist.
my parents had me on planes a lot as a kid, but that doesn't count. other than that its about 6 times as well.
I live out of a cheap car. so drive a lot, but no natural gas heats my home.
I live on about 15k/year. Your footprint is proportional to your expenses you know. What do you live on?
Also add your per diems and work based expenses.
Muh appeal to authority.
>can pretty much guarantee my footprint is far far less than yours.
What a faggot. Just kill yourself and reduce it even more.
Hey there little buddy.
Did you know that 2% growth means doubling every 36 years? It's called the rule of 72.
Neat huh?
I don't think you understand what that means.
>I live out of a cheap car. so drive a lot, but no natural gas heats my home.
Thanks for destroying the planet.
I earn 5k a year building solar panels.
sure you do.
Still breathing? How immoral, warming up the world.
Funny how evolution is producing people who are either
a) too stupid to understand the exponential function
b) don't give a fuck about the implications of exponential population growth
that'll end well. not
breathing/farting does not change climate because it does not remove carbon from the ground and add it to the biosphere.
Are you retarded? You know what i meant.
In science one follows the rules.
You didn't.
You are the retard.
m8 when the hurricanes were happening, did you ever look at how precise their trajectory was predicted even a few days in advance?
What did you mean? Please elaborate.
>I'm livin large, faggot. kill yourself
ahh, that's what I thought you meant.
In that case, I bid you good day sir.
>Climate scientists have been predicting doomsdays since the early 1900s, from extreme ice ages, to extreme heat waves, to now just "climate change", where any weather event can be blamed on CO2 which is just nuts.
Stop lying.

>The global climate is as chaotic as weather
So much for knowing statistics.
