Fact 1: there are tons of things that weren't defined the simplest way (take physics where charge is defined using current intensity despite the opposite making more sense)
Fact 2: using [math]\pi[/math] or [math]\tau[/math] is equivalent since they are defined to differ by a factor of 2 and they make no axiomatic difference
