...turn into this?
when this...
... turned into this
turns out you can't do maintenance on reusable spacecraft the same way you do it on aircraft, and have to be order of magnitude more meticulous about it
Designed by committee for the purpose of keeping the companies the committee represented in govt contracts
Why did this...
...become this?
But the ISS is able to operate for nearly two decades without a hitch. People actually believe this.
The ISS has not had to land or take off at any time during those two decades.
ISS doesn't launch from earth nor does it come back down
those are the most critical points of a space mission where shit has to endure worst stresses
Women and jews.

Main problem of shuttle were heat shield tiles which could easily be crushed by hand.
the ISS doesn't go to space and back regularly
>nor does it come back down
One day it will.
Because was meant to be a compromise that should carry NASA through a decade or so of public and political disfavor for spaceflight after Apollo. It just happened that the golden age never came back and things got rusty.
If only von Braun got his Mars mission instead.
>muh army sabotaged nasa
This commie/hippie bullshit again. The usaf was literally what saved nasa, for good or bad.
NASA has so many paid shills around the internet, and other gullible people jerking off over SLS while saying "I won't believe the BFR until it flies" routine
Love watching those NASA shills bring up fucking concept drawings for the shuttle as if they were EVER something that could have been real
>"Shuttle was SUPPOSED to fly every WEEK man !"
And then at no point did NASA ever work towards a vehicle capable of high flight rates, in a sane, cost concious manner.
*Boeing and LM shills
wonder what Musk has to say about this
The Senate and military brainlets happened.
Which law gives congress/senate or the military who gave NASA no money at all, final design decisions over the shuttle
Did NASA leadership/design team/engineers resign in protest over the boondoggle? Nope
They intentionally designed a rocket with tens of thousands of unique brittle hand glued on heat tiles
With solids and LH2, even after the smashing success that a gas generator kerosene engine was with the Saturn V
With an 80 ton orbiter
nothing because his rockets aren't human rated
Until December...
Once you get used to big money it's kind of hard to work for less...
