Myostatin And Super Strength

Myostatin deficiency is one of the most interesting genetic phenomena out there. This extremely rare mutation allows Animals to obtain stronger muscles and bones and has the potential to give humans super human strength. there's also other possible ways to enhance humans with superhuman strength, such as a muscle tendon strength enhancement to allow muscles to produce more force and energy. An lrp5 gene enhancement could create extreme bone density which would allow humans to withstand immense amount of weight on the human body. All of these mutations can be used to give humans super strength. These mutations can be created through genetics engineering via CRISPR Cas 9.

Ok

Is this what super cow had? iirc all they had to do was pick the super fast sperm cell to impregnate an egg with, and (surely after many additional hormone, steroids, etc) wala! Super buff cow was born.

Hey OP, you forgot all the medical problems associated with having a significant amount of muscle on a human frame designed to not have said amount of muscle.

Say goodnight to your respiratory system and 100 fold heart attack chances in the future.

yesh

Yes the super buff cow had myostatin deficiency.

If done correctly it wouldn't screw up the human body because people have been born with these traits and are very healthy individuals. If these traits were enhanced in the right way it would allow human muscles to produce more atp and more energy which would allow humans to have super strength. These mutations don't affect your heart or respiratory system they affect tendon muscles and bones. myostatin deficiency is not a steroid its a gene that enhances muscle mass and gives you a very high metabolism.

this is the future of the military

There was an user who made research on this but his team got axed if I remember well. You him?

It isn't one cow. It's a whole breed of cows called Belgian Blue.

the super strong bone was is interesting. It changes facial appearance though and makes you worse at swimming. No real negative health effects in the family that had it though.

>these mutations don't affect your heart or respiratory system

The mutation affects ALL muscles, including your heart. Your chest isn't suited to having a heart of larger size. Your extra large muscles will require more ATP ALL the time which requires more oxygen ALL the time which stresses the respiratory system ALL the time which fucks with the already oversized squished heart ALL the time.

These people are FAR from healthy.

For people with sub 90 IQ. Super strong meathead soldiers are about 5 thousand years out of date.

I think it makes your hands suck.

Isn't there an issue with repairing damage? My impression was that the myostatin keeps a portion of muscle cells in reserve so to speak, so that then can grow and take over if there's an injury. Wouldn't these deficient individuals be unable to do that?

iron man is better then captain america

You either look like pic related or fat.

Pretty sure having less myostatin doesn't make you stronger directly.

You're better off pumping androgens.

The future of the military are super strong tiny men. They are smaller targets to be shot but they're just as effective at shooting.
Assuming you can put the same firepower down range (you can) you want to become as small as possible.

The military itself says the future of is diversity. Tiny men were the military of the past. This is the military of the future.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2562651/ says you're wrong
What say you?

I can see a dystopian future where feminists use CRISPR to alter the genes of females to compete with men.

Like make them taller and bigger than men? I want that though

>bigger than men
They are already bigger than men.

You want a women who thinks with emotion first to be bigger and stronger than you?

Women are less violent than men they should be bigger honestly

dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-4454964/Female-rulers-27-likely-wage-WAR-males.html

Afaik that mutation also causes deformities and reduces ones life expectancy by decades. Thunder warrior tier desu.

Shit, really? CRISPR can engineer myostatin deficiency? Sign me the fuck up.

Correlation is not causation there could have been many economic political and social variables that cause that. The data that actually matters is that women are consistently less violent than men regardless of economics or country or whatever. There are many mammals where the female is larger and with the exception of the hyena they are peaceful.

>the larp5 gene
KEK

>Women are less violent than men
That's statistically false, women are actually much more prone to violence it just usually never amounts to anything.

Where are these stats

Nah, long legs have great value in movement. One of the reasons why women are vastly inferior infantry is height.

>super bones
>super muscles
>no super discogenic
>superhumans in wheelchairs

tall women don't preform at the levels of short men. Movement is good for distance but in the end it's not as important as the benefits being smaller brings

Do some reseach

there are people already self experimenting with myostatin knockout kits

They probably don't work at this point, and are beyond what I am willing to do. But I injected myself just this morning with a localized myostatin inhibitor. Ordering more tonight

Myostatin inhibition has more influence on strength than androgens

>bring me solo

Veeky Forums is going to lead the genetic engineering revolution desu. That and sport performance doping.

is Veeky Forums going to become interesting again with the amount of people experimenting with crispr on themselves?

Veeky Forums doesn't know about this. I haven't spent much time on that board, or Veeky Forums in general, but from what I've seen they're clueless. Only a handful of bodybuilders have even heard of this compound.

The results thus far are nothing noteworthy. The clinical trials reported 15-20% volumetric increases in muscle mass for post menopausal women. They were dosing 100-200mg. It costs nearly 100 dollars just for 1mg on the black market. Some people have reported tangible gains just shooting 1mg, but I haven't. I'm not even convinced they can even produce the real stuff. Acceleron keeps a tight lid on things.

>These mutations don't affect your heart or respiratory system
Tell me, what two systems provide and distribute oxygenated blood? Beyond that what is the heart made out of and what does myostatin effect?

Imagine having a body where exercise literally did nothing

That would suck.

like a lot of things in genetics there's a trade-off. more muscle means more oxidative stress = higher mutation rate in quiescent cells and oocytes = reduced lifespan and higher risk of birth defects in women

Well, I meant more pro sports and pro bodybuilding types are starting to get interested in this stuff.

High metabolism sounds like high rates of cell division. That results in the aging process being accelerated, as damaged DNA spreads faster.

That proves my point even more but in another direction.

Your heart is normal sized but muscles are all demanding stupid amounts of more oxygen 24/7? Have fun with that heart attack.

>make everyone super strong beefchads
>machines still labor more efficiently
>dreams of being the alpha chad are made pointless since if everyone is ultra ripped nobody is
>earths carrying capacity is cut in 4 since your flesh golem population all eat like horses
sounds like a great plan desu

this is just another reason why we need to go the opposite direction and make people smaller. We need to get over our dumb dumb caveman brains and realize we should optimize to the lower bound not the upper bound.
Manlets will literally inherent the Earth

Jockey's and F1 drivers are smaller than average because of the advantage it confers.
