Proper baked macaroni and cheese is always great after coming in from the cold.In addition to your stews, soups, and basic american comfort food, I think hot sandwiches and panini are great cold weather food. Something like a reuben, or Cubano, or just salami and mozzarella.
Gonna second this as well. Hearty pork and root vegetables really hit the spot. Unfortunately, no fresh wild mushrooms this time of year.
