What is it with people that love cooking being alcoholics and having terrible lives?
Nearly every poster here seems to follow this pattern.
What is it with people that love cooking being alcoholics and having terrible lives?
because i hate myself and want to die and the hour i spend cooking a meal from scratch i can escape my suicidal thoughts and focus on something i enjoy instead
...
Because it's a low wage job with high pressure and competition: where some people work with retarded servers, customers who think they know better or complain to show off (or just don't read the menu, and often have to clean all the nasty ass dishes at the end of the night. Not to mention all the health code regulations and the fact that restaurants rarely make enough to survive because customers don't understand overhead and throw a conniption fit if prices go up.
So fucking crazy stress and people thinking the kitchen is a magical cupboard that all food can come from, exactly the way each person wants it, and at the cost of the raw ingredients.
>What is it with people that love cooking being alcoholics and having terrible lives?
Yes, this is true of me.
>why do misanthropes enjoy spending time alone and engaging in escapism
Truly a mystery.
They love cooking and are alcoholics because they had to care for themselves at a young age.
I do weed now. Legal and so much better here. Every two weeks I get a bottle of 500mg pure THC extract in alcohol and 2 tins (one Indica/Sedating/Nighttime one Sativa/Stimulating/Daytime ) of hash or kief. Don't drink much at all anymore
What does that run you a month?
Why doesn't he lift his hands over the bottles? The chains would come off easily.
I like to cook and I'm pretty happy but not old enough to drink.
This guy nails it. Might not be an alcoholic, but this is me right here. I love cooking, but everything else is shit.
That's just Veeky Forums in general
Because 99% here are ronry basement dwellers that are forced to cook. Normal people do not visit Veeky Forums they rather post crap on failbook or snapchat.
Like most activities, alcohol makes it more fun and interesting.
>tfw been on here since I was 15, before I drank, through the worst of my alcoholism and now 29 and sober for two years
You really can never leave
I grew up being an autist posting but I'm a huge normie now in my mid 20s, still post here daily.
not everyone is you senpai.
Former NEET here. Plenty of us grew up, or more likely, our parents died.
I'd say %80 basement dwellers now
A little under 300 a month. I get a 20% discount cuz I'm a poorfag but the weed here is already insanely expensive to begin with.
Been a neet since I was 19. 30 now.
pretty accurate senpai
Jesus, my therapist couldnt even come to this conclusion yet here we are... Doesn't help I get a new bottle of therapy every night
I always thought cooking and drinking went together. I've been a cook for 25 years and I still enjoy drinking and cooking.
fag
My cooking gets to perfection level when I stop drinking.
>be sober for over a year, make amazing food, get promotion
>go back to crawling in a bottle for 3 years, cooking goes from perfection to just above average/good, make stupid decisions while trying to advance career and wind up in a worse kitchen
>get sober again 4 months ago, already in better job, cooking is back to perfection, creativity through the roof.
Drinking may temporarily alleviate the pains of work, but your career suffers. Never again for me, especially since I already have (minimal) organ damage. I'm not willing to die earlier than necessary for alcohol. There's enough other stuff than could kill me out there, don't need to help it along.
I drink wine a few times a week and at least one day over the weekend get completely blacked out with friends at the bar. I mostly meme and pretend to be an alcoholic on here and just like to meme.
Who cares, just cook my fucking food stove monkey
the best meals ive ever made were born of deprivation and angst. i can still taste them years later, 5 star
hunger is the best spice
it's not exactly a revelation that Veeky Forums is populated by depressed losers you fucking retard
Yup, thats pretty much it.
based
...
hmm
when i'm really depressed, i stop caring about eating and just microwave unhealthy crap from the frozen section. i eat better when i'm happy, because then i care enough about myself to eat well.
it's more of a social media platform for people like us than actual social media is. people on facebook just share shitty memes and baby photos. here we talk about real shit like feels, self improvement, and alcoholism.
You know all those Homebrewmen threads from years back? You are seeing the fallout from that.
Wouldn't it be nice if there was a legal intoxicant to take the edge off in the evenings that didn't come with some sort of awful side effects? inb4 dude weed lmao, I include weed as one of the shitty intoxicants.
The hint as to why is has awful side effects is in the term you used, "intoxicant".
I know. I guess the natural state of man is to be unhappy, and anything that "fixes" that comes with consequences in the end.
Because both food and alcohol are shit tier entry level pastimes.
If you're spending lots of time thinking about or engaging in either then your life's been so bad that you haven't even had the chance to branch out and get into subtler pursuits. You're basically stuck at the base of Maslow's pyramid, never having moved past self-feeding, to the point where even your drug of choice is just fermented liquid food.
alcohol in low doses.
>implying maslows pyramid is supported by evidence, and not just an ideological framework
explain communism then
Wait, what awful side effects do you think cannabis has?
That's a pretty fucking benign psychoactive. Worst thing about it I can think of is how if you smoke it then you *might* eventually have later life problems related to the act of smoking in general, though even then I don't think there's very solid evidence cannabis smoking will do the same thing as tobacco smoking as far as your cancer or COPD risks go. And it's kind of a moot point anyway since you can just heat it instead of burning it and bypass that possible issue altogether.
I didn't imply that. It is in fact just an ideological framework, not some scientific fact.
>explain communism
Not sure what that has to do with anything. Communism is the misguided idea the state will take care of everything for you.
No not at all.
>tfw always stuck at love and belonging
sadfrog.jpg
>Communism is the misguided idea the state will take care of everything for you.
LMAO! That's like saying "capatalism is the misguided idea corporations will operate in my best interest," idiot. Read a couple of books before you attempt to vomit garbage.
>in your best interest
There's that lefty entitlement seeping through.
Capitalism works because it's free and natural, your "best interest" is your own responsibility.
This
Working in restaurants drives you to that lifestyle. It is literally life sucking.
Haha, it is me, truly.
Food washes away the terrible taste of the massive amounts of cheap wine I drink. I have to drink this bc I can't really afford to go with anything else.
Last night after cooking, I apparently agreed to something with my wife. Fuck me now I have to take her shopping 2 days before Xmas. Oh well at least I can pick up a carton of cheap wine. 10% off if u buy 6 so I pay $22.60. Lasts a day and a half to two days.
The last bastion of lonely, disillusoned people is to focus on trying to enjoy and perfect one fundamental survival related task. For some, it's fitness, for others, it's building shit, for this board, it's cooking.
...
>What is it with people that love cooking being alcoholics and having terrible lives?
You mean the sort of people that like cooking and also posted on this website. Not exactly the most representative sample of people who enjoy cooking.
I've never looked at it this way before, but you are probably correct, about me at least.
Yeah, this is such a fucking stupid thread.
The one cook I knew IRL was an alcoholic. Didn't have a shitty life though.
being a cook is a degenerate lifestyle. even cooks who work in a nice place now started off in a shithole at some point, its just in the blood of the industry
>skol can
that's a brazilian stock photo if i've ever seen one
