I used to run the dairy on the commune I lived at. We didn't sell the milk, just used it for our own consumption, so we never bothered pasturizing it. That stuff was great, but I don't bother trying to find raw milk out here in society.

Yeah. We filtered the milk through those little round non-gauze filters into 5 gallon dairy cans, put those in the chiller, and then distributed them to refrigerated dispensers around the farm that the dairy cans fit right inside.

I admit it's delicious, but I never seek it out. Safety concerns, plus I just don't use all that much milk. I rarely drink it, so it's mostly used for cooking. I'd rather it be pasteurized for safety and storage.

I'm a cheesemaker at a small creamery. We receive raw milk from 5 different farms which we then pasturize ourselves. We treat raw milk like a biohazard. We had a listeria scare and the raw milk was the culprit.

I would only consume raw milk if I knew the people who sourced the milk personally and also knew that they drink the milk themselves regularly.

Western Ohio Aldi in my town. They are absolutely unbeatable by anyone nearby, including Walmart. Eggs are twenty-five cents, carrots/onion/celery/mushrooms under a buck per bag/container. Butter at $2/lb. Been going there for years. Doesn't make sense to shop anywhere else for food necessities. I buy ground meat at a local grocery, but for chicken, pork shoulder, beef roasts, Aldi every time. They even have some speciality stuff like Parmigiano Reggiano, plus all that imported German stuff. I sound like a paid spokesperson, I know.

You put milk into the oven and keep it below boiling point for a very long time (usually a day or so). Light caramel taste develops over time and it turns slightly brown. You can also make it by pouring boiling milk into good thermos and leaving it for a day.
