What is egoism under communism? You can band with whoever you like, and there's no such thing as a completely individualist society. Of course, you're going to have to live with and off other people to have any sort of civilisation. Otherwise, go be Robinson Crusoe.
Plus, you're forgetting the whole part about post-scarcity, where you'd be working far less hours and get more of what you want, which is, kind of, you know, the appeal of communism.
