The painting is "Le rêve" by Detaille, a french painter from the end of the XIXth century.
It pictures the dreams of glory of a bunch of french soldiers training in the countryside after the defeat against Prussia during the war 1870. They long to take their revenge and therefore dream of the great battles of old.

It is clearly a pro-war piece of art so I don't think "All Quiet on the Western Front" would match this painting.
